Without the the things on the list, the flag represents little.
You can't just take back what a symbol represents. The swastika can't just become a symbol for piece and diversity because someone said so.
Whether that symbol is being instantiated is a completely different argument then whether or not the flag is important, which, again, many seem to say it is.

So long as they're burning flags and not tiki torches in Charlottesville, right?
What are you babbling about?

Many of the same people who defend flag burning think that "hate speech" is a real thing and isnt protected under the first amendment.

The flag is a visual representation of all of these ideals and principles you ignorant fk.
good lord!

You are aware the swastika originally represented peace?
It wasn’t until someone came along and perverted it to start a world war and kill six million Jews.
Probably the best cautionary tale of all time of why not to fall in love with things like flags.

Dude, if you want other people to listen to you, you've got to cut that part out of the message. This coming from someone who agrees with the stuff prior.

Yes, but it is also a visual representation of the government, in respect of which we have a right to protest, including by burning or otherwise disrespecting that visual representation. This is all settled law and social mores, so I'm not sure what y'all are arguing.

Yep no way Hitler rises to power and commits all those atrocities without the swastika flag...

That's a different symbol altogether, even if they are very similar. The first is an upright "swastika" that was and is still used to represent holy places and temples. The other is for the 3rd Reich. That first symbol is still on maps today. Finding a swastika requires looking through a history book.
See, saying something about a symbol is much different to what that symbol actually means

That’s some thick semantics you got working there

sure in front of the white house or congressional building....not at a football game. If these guys were as passionate about their beliefs as they claim, they would take it a step further rather than just acting like an azz on national TV.
Its all bluster to get attention.

We're arguing that the flag is more than the dye and fabric that make it up, it's a symbol for something.
The fact that you can legally burn it doesn't take away the fact that the flag represents something.

I don't really disagree with any of this.

Wait...has this STILL not been anchored? Look, I took part in this shitshow yesterday, but holy crap...who's asleep at the wheel here?
This has nothing to do with a current LSU player, and is 99% politics.
So sure...a 33 page screed on the front page of the rant makes sense.

So, symbols don’t mean anything now?
Which is it?
You see the faulty logic here I hope

No they do, but you were blaming the flag itself instead of the message behind it.

My ultimate point is there’s nothing stopping some elected leader here in America from trying to fuse the military and the flag to himself and using it for nefarious purposes.
We should be vigilant about shite like that.
What was done with the swastika is a great example.
