Why not both? I think they go hand in hand with each other.

Eric Held is literally one of the nicest guys I've ever met.
He must have done a 180 at some point because when he coached in New Orleans he was a total douche.

They just hired a couple of guys from Ole Miss to boost recruiting and NIL

I've been around HS football longer than most of you on this board have been alive and he is one of the 5 best people I've met in HS football.
End of story.

The Lhsaa is a joke if you haven’t noticed.
and the LHSAA is LIGHT YEARS better than it was in the 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s.
Heck the there were about 30 kids that were in the same situation I was as a senior and lost eligibility(family issues kid bouncing houses) that were eligible.

Hard to believe you are talking about the guy based on when he was in New Orleans. I guess people change.

In my opinion LSU should be cutting back on the recruiting resources and focusing it more into massive scouting. I don't really get this honestly. It should be more heavily focused into identifying talent falling through cracks which could in turn be impacted on budget when you're finding more studs who are not highly recruited.
they should focus less on 7 on 7.

Sounds like he has tons of strong relationships in Louisiana high school football all over the state. Sort of a perfect characteristic for this job title.
I do not know him though, so I can't comment on his douchiness or lack thereof

I umpired for the LHOSA and met Eric a few times at events, and he seems like a nice genuine guy.
More importantly, he is in sync with all of the coaches in the state which has to be a huge bonus for LSU trying to retain in state talent.

I had Coach Held as a special teams coordinator in high school. I think maybe the disconnect in this thread may be that he's a great guy off the field but when he's coaching he can be a dick. He would lose his shite quite often at practice. Once when I was a sophomore OL, he grabbed me and made me play scout team safety. Now if the scout team card had an arrow or any direction at all I'd be fine but there was nothing. Naturally I didn't know what the frick I was doing and let's just say he made me question continuing my football career.
When you're outside of practice and just shooting the shite with him or whatever though, he was a pretty chill guy. That's kind of just how a lot of coaches are. All in all I liked him and hope he does well at this position, he no doubt has a lot of connections in the state.

This is awesome news. Coach Held is a legend. One of the most genuine people you'll ever meet, zero pretense, absolutely hilarious, knows everyone, and has a photographic memory for trivia in sports, music, history, etc. You spend an hour with the guy and it will be the most entertaining hour of your day, guaranteed.
