re: Ensminger called “bullshite” on those that said he wouldn’t get it done

Y’all do realize that they made the decision to move to the spread well before they got Joe Brady? If it wasn’t Joe Brady it would’ve been somebody else similar.

fricks he supposed to say?

Ensminger has turned into a charity case and even he hates the attention

Burrow had only fall practice and not much experience at receiver to work with in 18.
Seems like the perfect reason to install an offense that Burrow is used to and not something different than he's ever run before.

And we saw how that went in 2018.
It was a frickign hot mess.

Sure but the point is that it wasn't E.
O and E deserve credit, but its not for fixing the offense right away. Its for realizing they still had work to do after 2018.
Its really easy to look at the Rice and UCF games and go " he we figured this out" its another to go "no we sucked most of the year and played G5 teams, lets get better"

Ensminger tried to modernize the offense in 2018. They just didn’t have monumental success for variety of reasons — drops, oline being shuffled every game and injured, Burrow arriving super late.
Brady handled third down and red zone calls last year while Ensminger did the rest.
As for people mentioning Jerry Sullivan, I think his impact showed a lot in the receivers route running last year. Technique-wise he made a huge impact, scheme-wise not so much.

Offense was totally different from 18 to 19.

oline being shuffled
We had to do a lot of shuffling in 2019 too due to injury and suspension.

A bad scheme
Terrible play calling

119th in Red Zone TDs in 2018 thats 31 in 60 trips
4th in 2019 thats 59 in 74 trips.

So you're telling me Brady fixed the scheme and the drops.
Also, when it comes to play calling, when is it a good time to call a shitty play?

I just wanted to say... How lucky are we to have Coach O and this guy? Couldn’t think of any two other guys that I want on my side! Both make me want to run through a brick wall for them!

You forgot Ensminger being OC

We actually didn’t because we didn’t move to the spread until this past offseason. We brought in a new QB (Burrow) and he only had fall camp. It’s impossible to install a completely new offense in that time and be efficient. So they just rolled over the same offense from 17 and added some things and by the end of the year they were pretty good. Then before the 19 season the second the 18 season ended they decided to move fully to the spread and went out to get coaches and analyst that knew how to implement it.

You can'r make a one on one comparison. Burrow had only fall practice and not much experience at receiver to work with in 18.
How did Ensminger deal with Joe's lack of time with the offense?
he put him under center for the first time since middle school.
Ask Joe how different the 2018 offense was from the 2019 offense.
Oh wait someone already has
quote:
“I think the stuff we are doing right now is very innovative, it’s a change of direction from what we were last year but we are still going to have some of what we did last year,” Burrow said during his first media availability of the spring. “We’re just building on these new things as well and I think, you know, we don’t want to give too much away before the season so people are going to have to wait and see when they watch the film.”

If E could have come up with this offense in 2018 then he should have.

No shite, they switched fully to a spread offense in spring of 19. Then went and hired Brady and analyst that knew it and could implement it. If it wasn’t Brady then it would’ve been some other spread expert.

But, it still wasn't Ensminger designing the offense either way.

The entire offense was Brady's. The route trees. The concepts. Play design. That was all Brady.
He coached the WRs. He ran the passing drills at practice.
The level of execution we saw in the passing game, particularly that of the WRs, was because of Brady.

Deculus was vastly improved. Ingram was back and Magee moved full time to guard. Rosenthal was also added to the oline after being moved about a quarter of the way through 2018 and redshirting.
And Charles was the only one to be suspended and missed 0 meaningful games. Georgia Southern, NWSU, Utah State, Mississippi State, Ole Miss and Arkansas. Those last three teams fired its head coaches, and the other three teams LSU could’ve beat with four offensive linemen.

I’m not saying the scheme was good, but you’re discounting how tough it is to redo an entire offense in one offseason with all new starting wide receivers, a new running back, and a brand new quarterback you got on campus two months before the season.
And again, the offensive line was a disaster.
You just watched what happened when they were able to go full out with pretty much every starter returning. Now they have everything involved with the scheme in place and it’s much easier to plug guys in.
Also you bring up red zone numbers, but under E in 16, LSU was one of the best red zone teams in the nation if I recall correctly.
And my last point is this, this isn’t about taking away credit from Brady because he deserves all he gets. It’s about acknowledging and giving credit to E too

Ensminger, in and of his sole leadership really did not “get it done”. Until Joe Brady, what did SE really accomplish?
His testy response was indicative of his feeling the full force of fans distrusting his sketchy resume and bland accomplishments. He did do better than that Miles-yo/yo but what is that??
This year will tell us more but SE is “long in the teeth” with little to show.
