Enough of the negativity, I think this bye week will be a much needed reset

We're pretty banged up all over, especially on offense. S. Carolina in 2 weeks will likely be the most healthy we've been since Clemson.

Also, while I'm still baffled at how quick the coaches were to abandon the run against a 3-man front, a lot of the other stuff is fixable so ideally some serious self-scouting is being done.

If I told you before the season that we'd go 2-1 against Clemson, Florida, and Ole Miss before the bye week, would you have taken it? Judging by the old prediction threads, I think most of us would.

Point is, all of our goals are still ahead of us, there's no clear frontrunner in the SEC this year, and a team changes throughout the season. Just ask the 2019 LSU defense. Maybe a bye week is just what the doctor ordered, the O-line gets healthy and more decisive, and Nuss is better able to put some zip on passes again.

I doubt the offense can put more than 24 points on Bye.

Well thankfully Bye has never scored a point or contributed to a teams W/L column.

I hate when people say shite like this. That was before anyone knew that Clemson and Florida were legitimately bad teams. Things change. This gives off vibes of the same people that sit on here before the season and say "we'll be favorites in 11/12 games this year"

When has a bye week EVER been beneficial to LSU? Seriously, we are almost never better prepared after a bye than we are otherwise. I have no confidence that we'll trot out a better, more "complementary" team against South Carolina.

Florida, sure, but I also hate when people discount a top-5 matchup away Win early in the season where both teams were giving it their all. Clemson ended up obviously not being as good as everyone thought, but no-one knows how much their confidence was shaken after that first game. The real value of the result is almost surely somewhere in the middle.

But that's beside the point. The point is we still control our own destiny and have everything in front of us. Feels like this board thinks we have 3 losses already.

No.

Not because I'm "spoiled" as BK likes to say. But because this season has championship aspiration/expectations. That's not just coming from me, the fan. That was talked about by the program. From pretty much the day last season ended (even before with the Underwood drama), there was a push to go "all in" for this year. The donors responded in kind. New staffers were brought in. LSU was returning a 5th year starting QB who was viewed as a potential 1st round pick. The pieces are in place for a run. I thought before the season (as most did) that LSU has a 2 loss margin for error. With a road game at Alabama and a season ending road game at Oklahoma, my thought was LSU needed to get through Sept and Oct clean to have that margin for error in tact for Nov. Losing @ a less talented OM team was not on the "I'd take it" list.

Is that a very high level of expectations? Of course. But if BK is ever going to win a NC this looked to be the season to do it. That possibility is very much still in place. But as most reasonable fans who were shouted down after the Florida game saw, the offense is bad, and this season is trending towards a 2023 type season than a CFP/championship season.

In 2022 "good" was ok. Last year, even though we didn't love it, "good" was again ok. 2023 should have been MUCH better. But that can't be changed now. This season "good" is NOT ok.

When your QB is obviously hurt and underperforming relative to last year seems like as good of a time as any.

We're largely in agreement. This team should be playing better than it is and the expectation this year is "great".

What I'm saying is that teams change throughout the year, and a bye week is as good of a chance as any to get right, especially for a offense and QB that is pretty injured and isn't lacking talent. But 1 loss and the fanbase is ready to blow the whole thing up.

If no significant improvement after a week off it v is evident that Kelly doesn't know how to fix what is broken

Are we sure he's actually hurt, or have we just confirmed what type of injury he does NOT have? This entire situation has been so confusing.

The overall goal is still the playoffs, and 10-2 gets you there.
Meaning, we can still afford another loss, so we have slack.

Work needs to be done on all levels, but it ain't over yet.

It would great if Kelly took the week to make some changes but that isn’t going to happen

If our QB is truly hurt, as it obvious seems to most, I have zero trust in a coaching staff that wouldn’t rest him against Southeastern, so he could be at his physically best against Ole Miss.
