not if he is asking for first round money and high slot money!

If he's asking for first round money, I'm definitely more worried if the Twins take him over the Yankees.

Slot value for the 75th pick is $767,000.

In the early part of the 2nd day of the draft they make phone calls asking if you'll take slot money before they draft you. If you say no they move on.

That neither Enlow, Pearson or Cabrera were drafted by now tells me signability played a major part in how things have gone.

And Mainieri has a terrific story to tell them. He can say he made Lange $2.2 million, and that Deichmann has made himself a million dollars by coming back for just one year.

Not saying that we'll get all these guys, but it's an incredibly fortunate night for us.

That happened with Mac Marshall, and only Mac Marshall.

And what's more, Mac Marshall sucked in fall ball. He wasn't going to pitch a lot as a freshman.

So no, there is zero reason to think that's going to happen.

If he wasn't such a pussy, he might have had a shot. But he showed up as the 3rd best freshman arm behind Lange and Latz, barely ahead of Godfrey. Scared him to think he wasn't as good as he thought.

Need to hope a large market team(Red Sox, Cubs,Yankees) don't come calling!! They will probably be only clubs that can pay him.

I know the Enlow family...they're not rich but they ain't hurtin for $ ... doesn't mean the young man would pass up a lower paying slot if his heart is set on going straight into the bigs.

Round 3 may hurt LSU if the teams that underspent early and have money to burn pick a few of our commitments. This article paints a painful picture.

Thanks for linking that article. Hopefully we don't get hit that hard, but they lay out the scenarios that give me concern.

If Enlow went the college route, would he be a draft-eligible soph? I seem to recall one of the higher profile signees was of that age, but I can't remember who particularly.

He wouldn't be. JPearson, Stephen Keller, Nick Storz, and potentially Mason Doolittle.

Big difference b/w the bigs and rookie ball....

Either 21 or a junior to be draft eligible from NCAA.

It's hard to get too excited about things because you really don't know who has the money to get these guys. Even with the new slotted pay that they implemented a few years ago, it's just so unpredictable. The thing to watch is that if Enlow falls past the first few picks, then he probably has a very large "number" that will be hard to hit at this point in the draft. Same can be said for Pearson and Cabrera. That being said, LSU won't be out of the woods for a while with these players. Teams that save a million or two by drafting guys with no signabilty issues will come calling and the money will be there in most cases. LSU will be very fortunate to get one or two of Cabrera, Storz, Pearson, or Enlow. That being said, day 1 was a great day for the Tigers.
