Is it?

He's been at LSU 4 years and you can still count on one hand the amount of big plays he's made. Yes, the natural ability is there. And he's good for an exciting flash of greatness or two here and there. But nothing in his 4 year career has shown he is a reliable playmaker.

Everybody would. But after 4 years I don't think many are expecting that to actually happen. Right now he is on pace to join Russell Shepard and Myles Brennan in the LSU ring of honor. Guys who annually had a ton of preseason hype among the fanbase, but had very little actual production to justify it.

With our RB group, yes. It sure couldn't hurt. The dude is super talented if he could just get his shite together, finally.

Smart, careful wording there. In other words, feel good that he’ll be there on day 1, but who knows what day 2 may bring..

Not really that huge. The extra set of legs sure helps but he hasn’t jumped off the page as a major difference maker. Plus we added Diggs

He was a member of the same RB group last year and was a non-factor outside of couple of big plays in two games (Auburn and Alabama). Of course it doesn't hurt to have a guy like that in the mix. But I don't think him being there or not is "huge". Goodwin should be back in the mix, and LSU also added an 800 yard rusher (1000+ yards from scrimmage) from ND in Diggs. LSU also has a top 10 HS signee in Jackson.

Point being, the RB group should be deeper this year than last even without Emery. Given he has been consistently out of action (in both the season and offseason) for the better part of 3 of his 4 years for various academic reasons, I doubt the staff if really counting on him to be an impact player. Hoping he could be one? Sure. But I doubt they are counting on it.

Nick Brossette didn't do shite until his final season, and he wasn't as physically gifted as Emery. Just saying. He might flop, but he might pop. The potential is there. I don't understand how that isn't a positive, but I have to remember this tis the rant.

*If* he puts it all together, he can be a HUGE difference maker. His big plays jump off the screen in a major way, but he has not shown he can do that consistently.

If he does, then watch out!

Coach said they are close to beginning discussions about the possibility of laying the ground work for a tentative return.

Brossette

Brossette was a solid RB but relative to expectations, Emery was the consensus number one RB in his recruiting class and a top 5 overall player.
