Is he really a catcher commit if he has only played 2 games at catcher at the college level?
He has played 54 games at first base and 22 in the outfield but only two at catcher in the last 2 seasons.
He does have a nice swing though.

I really wouldn't consider him strictly a catcher commit I guess, you're right. "A commit with the abilty to play catcher, a much needed position" is probably a better wording

That’s a reference for the old timers. A very nasty dude!

The two games he's played in the Cape Cod league so far have both been at catcher so maybe he's trying to get back there

Will be interesting to see if he actually sees time at Catcher next year.

Do the College coaches tell the Summer league coaches where to play a recruit or current player?
In other words does Jay Johnson tell the Cape Cod coach to only play Yamin at catcher? Or is the decision made by the Summer coach or the player?

The college coaches have a lot of input on that I believe.

Yeah the college coaches have a say, especially coaches from the top-tier schools. Those summer league coaches aren't too worried about their W-L record, it's more about helping develop these kids.
Now, the two games Yamin played in were before he made it official with LSU, but I'd assume he knew beforehand where he was going
