CLM had good recruits and a better record- If we are accepting O as mediocrity then we have taken a giant step in the wrong direction

If we go 7 - 5 then many players may bolt from the class anyways.

Most of the class would sign with LSU in December like this year. For those that really want a spot. So why would you keep Orgeron because of 3 or 4 kids? At that point other SEC coaches will be shitting all over LSU. Why risk another season?

BTW, Miles was not fired for his record, but for his arrogance, stubbornness and style of offense.

Miles was fired because the assumption is those things lead to 8 and 9 win seasons over the last two years and that wasn't good enough, our talent was better.

If Miles was arrogant, stubborn, and kept his style of offense while producing 10-12 win seasons and SEC Championships every 3 years or so, then he's still here.

I'm not agreeing or disagreeing, but just an impartial observer pointing out that this isn't really a good argument after losing to Troy

Oh I agree... But Miles teams seem to have trouble beating teams he should by a bigger margin with the difference in talent..

as an intern coach O had an offense that set records.. don't care how bad the defenses were,, That's not O's fault.. He took advantadge and kept the pedal to the metal... O haters won't see this...

Sure we had bad losses this year but once it got going the offense and team won by large margins.. I mean hell, almost everyone losses to Bama.. but after that we looked and played pretty good until the bowl game.. Which are always toss ups...

I think next year will be unusual. There will be a lot of big fish that will be waiting until signing day. They will be uncommitted until then or some may be verbals or strong leans like surtain this year.

Not to mention firing Orgeron right after the early dining period would be a terrible look and definitely screw us with the other recruits. Either way, I expect a lot of dysfunction and I expect Orgeron to dig his heels in and pull out all the stops to stay in power.

Depending on the ban length I would take that bet too. O is here with anything 7-5 and above. 6-6 is where it gets dicey.

Some of you are just sad. Yall want orgeron to fail so badly. If you're an LSU fan you should support the team and our coach. What has he done so bad thus far? We are coming off of and 9-4 season, with games we could have won and had a better record than that, but we didnt. I understand the troy loss and the frustration with that, but I don't get the viewpoint of wanting the man to fail. It was one damn game, it happens to every coach thats ever coached in any sport. Sometimes hou lose games that you shouldn't. He responded well and righted the ship and we had a good but not great season. We had too many hurdles to jump to be a real contender last year, that's a fact. If nick saban was our coach, we wouldn't have won a title either. If orgeron doesn't work out, then so be it and he will be let go, but he is doing a pretty good job and deserves his shot and our support at this point in time. Recruits and players obviously don't hold the same dislike and opinion that he's a moron like some of our "fans" do. It's pathetic.

The timing will just be bad for next year. He won’t be fired mid season because Alleva will use his line “I wait until the end of the season to evaluate my coaches”

Then it will be too close to early signing period to pull the trigger.

Then it will look terrible to fire him right after early signing period with a bunch of big recruits uncommitted.

And all of this will be because Alleva et al don’t have the balls to do what is neccessary

In fairness, he got conservative vs Florida and Bama as interim and Auburn last year in 1st quarter. As I stated in the other thread, I give him a lot of credit for being way more aggressive this year vs Bama. I hope we see more of that this year against the top teams.

I stopped here because I know you are trolling

- Troy
- Worst loss to Miss St in history
- Offensive meddling
- Altercation with first year offensive coordinator that lead to his firing
- Ensminger
- Recruiting class outside of the top 10

All in just 1 year

Absolute truth, even with next year's .500 or worse season.

You can add in

- the Tua 'offer' that had both our QB commits nearly run for the hills
- the Florida game during the interim season
- 'hope and pray'
- Allowing players to threaten to fight fans on social media

Anyone got any more howlers?

Why is everyone downvoting the OP? He’s probably right. Its not like he’s campaigning for O but next years in state crop is loaded. This is common knowledge. He’s not getting fired unless they implode and even then he may not be fired. The class could be that special.

WHAT?????

Ok the team barely won those games... Ok you win...

You hate O... Lets FIRE HIM NOW.... But please tell me why Miles could not go into Arkie in 2014 and get SHUTOUT by A team that had not won An SEC game ALL year....

Look at it any way you want.. I want LSU to win every game... But if they don't I am fine with it as long as they look good... Winning is everything.. BUT having A decent and entertaining style of play helps put people in the seats...................

I've never said that. Those are bad optics.

Because the game passed Les by. I'm not trumpeting Les's losses or victories that much. I'm just arguing that celebrating O's "Record setting" is disingenuous.

So 9 wins is perfectly acceptable as we look good? Sol let's jut say in 2018, we lose 4 games, all against those top tier opponents (bama, auburn, georgia, miami). But we literally blow out everyone in our wins. Nothing less than 35-10. Good season or bad season? Acceptable or unacceptable? Good enough to keep O here?
