Aggravated sexual assault, apparently involving a minor. That's pretty serious.

I know its not in vogue right now but for peace of mind try "Innocent until proven guilty".

I hear you. He should be presumed innocent and should be allowed to play since the charges are dropped. But it would be easier to cheer for him 100% if I could be sure there wasn't anything shady here.

Think about it this way: Ray Lewis only pleaded guilty to obstruction of justice for the murder that took place back in 2000. But there's good reason to suspect that he did more than just "obstruct justice," so even after he served probation and returned to football, it was understandable why a lot of people weren't happy he was playing again.

Good thing the "back of your mind" means jack shite.

He went through the justice system and everything was presented through the system. If that's good enough for the court then it should be good enough for anyone.

Senior in high school had sexual relations with a Junior. Daddy found out and didn't like it. Happens all the time and a very tricky legal battle. Basically saying the 16yo is not old enough to consent and therefore the only logic is that the 17yo coerced the 16yo.

The offense is broad enough to include the consumption of alcohol or weed with a 16 or 17 year old when the accused is 18 or 19. we don't know what the alleged "assault" consisted of, either.
This could involve either serious misconduct or something much less troubling. The title of the offense is misleading.

This feels like a huge free agent signing lol. What a great thing to happen to this football team St just the right time. Ingram is going to start very soon, he's just too talented to keep off the field. This is going to help us out tremendously. Now, we need to just get healthy as possible on the defensive line before we hit the meat of the sec schedule. We are going to be in great shape. Geaux Tigers!

Aggravated sexual assault is pretty straight forward.

Aggravated Sexual Assault. There are 2 elements that make a sexual assault case “aggravated”: 1) young age (under 14) and 2) use of threats, force, weapons or drugs. If there is either element proven present in a sexual assault case, the charge will be aggravated.

Man, you don't know what kind of plea deal or what kind of offer he's going to recieve from the district attorney concerning his case. You don't even know the evidence of the case against Ed ingram, so how do you know? What someone is charged with, and what they're pleading guilty to or being convicted of are totally different alot of times.

You’re not addressing a reasonable audience. If he did something truly heinous this crowd would be ok with it as long as they could plausibly deny it. As for me, I see no reason to think the worst. It’s not just Ed Ingram who might have done something bad, this could be true of any kid on the team. You can’t go through life worrying about stuff like that. If you root for a college team long enough the odds are you will have rooted for a murderer and a few rapists. But that’s also true of working in business.

It wasn’t a plea deal, and the accusation wasn’t recanted. The case was dismissed by the judge.

Two things:
1) TX judicial system does not give a crap about LSU football, and LSU is currently voluntarily suspending arguably higher profile players for lesser offenses.
2) Sealing records is not uncommon in dismissed cases regarding these types of allegations — it’s the only way the arrest can be removed from Ingram’s record & it protects the accuser’s identity as well.

There is nothing that can be assumed based on any information that we have. He is being reinstated, and we may never know the details of that whole ordeal — but that doesn’t mean it’s automatically some shady deal.

No deal- Dismissed.

Dismissed after approximately 1/2 year of law enforcement investigation followed by about 1 year of DA/prosecutor investigation... then dismissed.

Dismissed means it wasn't even worthy of putting in front of a jury.

And if he was of age and she wasn't, you can bet your arse there would have at least been a statutory rape charge. There wasn't.

Dismissed... judge gave them plenty of time to pursue. It's not like had a week to gather the facts. 1.5 years of looking into this and not enough facts to put in front of a jury.

The only thing that would satisfy some of you people is if there was a time machine to go back and erase the charges in the first place. No prosecutor is going to 'clear him'. No judge is going to 'issue a statement'. Dismissal does both.

In case anyone doesn't get the impact of this, LSU just got a video game cheat code.
