Last year we were projected to go 5th in the west. We started out 7-0(8-0 if game isn't canceled) . We lost to 2 better teams and Arkansas. Finished 3rd in the west and the rant was pissed.

This year we are a consensus top 10 in most early publications and top 5 in many. Picked to finish 1st or 2nd in the west and sec overall. Rant is pissed.

I don't want to be ranked at all preseason, it's all bs anyway. Make em hungry, make em want it because it won't matter til we get to November anyway.

Yea you're right because being ranked #3 in 2011 really hurt the team

I don't think elite talent was ever questioned last year either.

The win column is the only ranking that should matter this year. That is motivation enough. Analysts' opinions come and go with your record anyway.

Sorry guy, but when CFN picked Bama to beat LSU this past year, I was assured by the rant that CFN doesnt know shite. So, I assume that we really should be outside the top 25 based on this.

"Devastating front four" far-fetched

Jerald Hawkins is gone too...who approves these clueless articles.

Judging by his analysis, he wrote this under the assumption that White and Beckwith were leaving.

It definitely is encouraging that they think this.

And yet, I can't help but know that if we falter, I'm going to see posts on here about how it was expected to lose 3-4.

I'm jaded.

People like you are probably stupid and life failures. You have to say shite like this to make yourself feel better, even though everyone already knows this is true. You are the guy that has to say shite that goes without saying. I'm not meaning to pick on you, because there are others on here as fricking stupid as you.

It's nice pub for LSU, if that pisses you off, go suck start a shotgun.

It's especially good pub for LSU that so many pre-season rankings have them high PRIOR to national signing day.

I mean, I doubt such rankings are a big factor in recruit decisions, but, let's face it, if we were pre-season #30, it might have affect a few recruits. As in, sort of a tie-breaker more than a big decision point on its own.

I don't think anyone is expecting a 3 loss team next year

I could see 2 losses but I'm expecting us to make a serious run at the SEC and CFP

Not today.

My point is that memories are exceedingly short around here and the usual suspects will suddenly "remember" that we all had doubts about this team if it falters.

Frankly, I have no "expectations". By that, I don't mean that I expect LSU to fail in the fall. I mean, literally, I have NO expectations.

College football is a funny game. It's nothing like the NFL. The worst team in the pros is almost always still capable of beating the best teams from a talent perspective. The gap isn't huge.

In college, the team trotting out the studs has a HUGE advantage even if my wife was coaching em.

LSU will be trotting out studs. So, anything could happen.

There is no way we lose two games next year

Wisconsin-W
- they will be breaking a new defense and have to replace a lot of starters
Jacksonville St-W
- Good team, but we are not Auburn
Moo ST- W
- no Dak, everything else doesn't matter
Auburn-W
- an absolute train wreck right now
Missouri-W
- Had the worst offense in CFB, and are losing their best defensive players
Florida-W
- It's hard to win in the swamp, but I think we can pull it out. Only game besides Bama I'm a little worried about
Southern Miss-W
- no need for explanation
Ole Miss-W
- lose a lot, kinda reminds me of the 2013 LSU
Alabama-W
- We finally excercise our demons and get over the hump
Arkansas-W
- This is gonna be similar to the Florida game imo, but Arkansas loses a lot and I don't think they have the depth to hang with LSU next year
South Alabama-W
Texas A&M-W
- Sumlin is probably gonna be fired by this time
