LSU may have more players in the NFL than any other program, but the fact that players like Andrew Whitworth and Kyle Williams are still playing in the NFL is irrelevant to the discussion of the discrepancy in talent since 2008.

Alabama has certainly put more players into the league since Saban took over and that's really not debatable.

Then how do so many of them make it to the NFL?

I'm not sure that supports the case of Miles being a great coach as it does a great recruiter.

It might not support him being a good gameday coach but it certainly doesn't align with the idea that he (or the staff) can't develop players.

Which is why finishing #1 this year is a big deal for the program moving forward

Need to even out the talent gap

don't you get it, man? everyone knows that all these kids are so super duper coming out of high school that they could just go through 3-4 years at LSU with no coaching, no training, no film study, no practice...just show up on Saturday and win about 80% of the games while playing in the SEC West.

You are kidding, but the real retards here think exactly that way. You even have clowns thinking Zach was not developed in three years of playing in the SEC, but in his one year in junior college.

last 4 years, LSU is 14-10 (58%) against SEC West teams and 20-12 (63%) overall in the SEC.

Compare that to the rest of the conference. I'll wait.

I don't care what the rest of the conference did... 14-10 vs. the west is NOT good with all that talent LSU has... And don't give me that crap about all the players leaving early.... That's what recruiting is for...There is NO WAY that Arkie and Ole Miss should have beaten LSU like they did this year.... ZERO REASON...................

All I know is since the 1/9/12 debacle, we've gone 6-2, 5-3, 4-4, 5-3 in conference, and not made the SECCG. All with elite recruiting and NFL players in the program.

Be happy with that if you want, but I expect more.

Amen to this. I was a Les supporter but the past 2 years have made it really hard. LSU is a mediocre performer and LSU football is only exciting if it is clear that we are striving for excellence.

You have an inflated sense of the talent that we've had on the roster.

Our last great defense was in 2012. In the three years since, we will have had six players on defense drafted (I'm including Deion Jones and Jalen Mills in that number). Our last great offense was in 2013. In the two years since, we will have had four players drafted (I'm including Jerald Hawkins, La'el Collins, and Vadal Alexander).

This is the first year since 2007 where I can say that we are having elite recruits and NFL players in the program all across the board. Anything less than 11-1 (7-1) next year is unacceptable.

Do with that what you will.

in the last 4 NFL drafts, we've had 27 total players drafted.

That's a lot of NFL talent on our roster, chilge.

You're right, but I think in this particular case, less is more. 18 of those 27 players were from the 2013 and 2014 drafts... and nearly all of those were early departures.

Think about how good the 2012 defense was, and how bad the 2013 defense was without Erid Reid, Keke Mingo, Sam Montgomery, and Kevin Minter......Think about how good the 2013 offense was, and how bad the 2014 offense was without Jarvis Landry, Odell Beckham, Jeremy Hill, Trai Turner, and Alfred Blue (who refused a medical redshirt).

The point I'm making is that with the way recruiting cycles work, when seniors graduate, you're replacing them with sophomores and juniors. When juniors leave, you're replacing them with freshmen and sophomores. There simply aren't enough scholarships to go around to replace that type of attrition in adequate fashion.

That being said, we're returning 9/11 starters on offense and 10/11 starters on defense (counting Rickey Jefferson). We should not lose a game next year.

You really are a complete tool. Always looking to shite on the program with cherry picked data. Pathetic. You ate by FAR the worst poster on here in terms of predicting outcomes...and everyone knows it. Pathetic.
