re: Dumb question: why not pull Skenes after 1 inning up 6-0?

To be fair, most teams aren’t going to go bullpen in game 1 like some will tell you to concede the game. It’s only because they are coming off a double header Sunday. Keep your rotation on full rest and in a routine.

wonder if people who can’t answer a simple question are just too stupid to keep their mouth shut or maybe they are so frustrated living in their mom’s basement that they have to try and make others feel dumb for asking an honest question. Bravo Mr manly man, you win the internet today. Feel better? Can’t we just try to be better guys? These are fellow Tiger Fans.
There are a lot of internet warriors who like to jump on people asking a genuine question.

To my defense, there is so much trolling on this site that it's hard to tell when someone is being genuine. Sorry I offended you and your little friend.

If people have no clue about a sport, they’d be better served to preface their post with that disclaimer.
I’d wager that they’d get far less “smartass” replies.
I’d also suggest that if you suffer from hypersensitivity, TD probably isn’t the best place for you.

Do you pull your starters in the 1st quarter up 21-0 just in case you need them in the 4th quarter?

Well, considering he did say in his post that he’s a “dumb fan” one can assume he is trying to learn as to why his scenario wouldn’t be a valid one.
Just don’t see the need in belittling people asking a legit question.

You don't do that. Thats how you burn more arms and burn Skenes. He wouldn't be coming back to start game 1 if that is something they would do. Very dumb question.

6-0 after the first isn’t some insurmountable lead.

The game is nowhere close to over only up 6-0 in the 2nd. LSU's bullpen is thin. Also, and this matters little in terms of winning, and maybe Skenes/Staff isn't thinking about it, but I think Skenes really wants to catch Ben McDonald's strikeout record.
He has 104 on the year after last night. Record is 202. So he needs 99 Ks to break the record. He has between 7-10 games left. 5 regular season, and up to 5 games in postseason play if LSU makes the Final. And if LSU is in an elimination spot, he might get an extra appearance.
To break record:
7: 14.2 k/game (Regional)
8: 12.4 k/game (Super)
9: 11.0 k/game (Omaha)
10: 9.9 k/game (Championship)

Baseball, you pull him, he's done.
So on top of his recovery and rhythm, there's that issue. Let's say you pull him up 6, and Kentucky starts beating up our bullpen. What then?

But if the game is already a blowout, why waste him? Save him for game 3, which is gonna start 0-0

You want to keep the starting pitcher on their typical schedule. They have a routine on the 6 rest days before the next start

You got one thing right. He’s a real live person, this isn’t a computer game. He’s got a routine and you don’t want to stray from it.
Posted on 4/14/23 at 9:22 am to Rob from Lafourche
Right. Because a 6-0 score in the first inning means it’s a foregone conclusion that LSU has won the game.

This is 12 yo travel ball mentality at its finest. Which is why so many kids have arm issues today.
Posted on 4/14/23 at 10:35 am to Rob from Lafourche
Turning him on such short rest is a great way to ruin his arm, risk injury, and throw off the rotation next week.
Once a starter starts a game then they are done until the normal rest period. It isn’t just about the 12 pitches he threw during the top of the first.

Because that would impugn his stats, screw up his scheduled routines for rehab and practice. The short outing last week at USC possibly caused him to be a little less effective and efficient last night early on. But most of all he’s a competitor and likely wouldn’t appreciate being pulled for any reason. And then there’s the other side of the coin….what three bullpen pitchers do you want to burn? Pitchers need to pitch.

Well to be honest, I don’t know the guy. I just get so tired of people bashing people now days. What ever happened to treating people the way we want to be treated? I believe some fans come here to get a break from their day and hopefully get enjoyment from their team in the form of interaction with fellow fans of that team. It’s like going to a game to celebrate with other fans instead of just watching alone. I am also sorry if I sounded bad defending him as well.
