This is becoming more prevalent in baseball. These players are graduating high school between 19 and 20 years old.

Between that and the transfer portal there is no time to develop players.

It’s intentional. They are being held back a year from what I understand.

Do you have any, you know, data to back up this claim?

Do you have data to support that assertion across college baseball? It certainly feels like it's true with LSU this season but I am not sure that is an issue across all of college baseball.

I don’t have a spreadsheet to prove it, but if you look at perfect game , you will see the ages of the top prospects. It’s a lot.

Generally kids, especially boys with June or later birthdays start a year later.
This has very little to do with athletics, just boys typically are behind girls and almost need to be a year later.

This as been having a cascade effect over the years, because most people don't want their child to be the youngest in their classes. It has crept from October birthdays being held back to the current May/June

So they’re choosing to have their child in high school until almost 20 years old? That seems counter productive later in life.

if a 21 year old sophomore is drafted high, how much more development does he really need? I like the rule as is, and wish that it applied in college basketball as well.

some do reclassify
Neal and Little are two that come to mind that left high school early
both probably regret that decision

didn’t they move back the cut off for turnjng 20 to August 1st?

that alone will get a few more people in the draft. Jones I think made it by a day. otherwise we’d be talking. about returning a 28 HR monster

So if you plan you're sex right, have the kid on August 2nd and take advantage of the extra year.
