Not a bad game by lsu. That 15.5 pt spread was suspect.

They did what they were supposed to. There are some positives and negatives to take away. But you can’t really take either as the identity of the team yet.

The negative Nancies on here will still complain after basically a perfect game where LSU shot 70% from the field, gave up 60, had 6 double digit scorers, and a near PTS/AST double double by your starting PG.

They will cover the spread for the 1st 6-7 games.

Enjoy the free money. Usually takes Vegas a while to get a grasp on basketball teams

It was a nice win. I know I'll get some hate for this, but there's still a lot to be concerned about. It's a really bad team and their best player didn't play, so that probably skewed the score a little, but not too much. That said, our rebounding is still atrocious. Our defense is a work in progress. Our offensive sets still lack. Tonight was great offensively because we didn't miss many shots, but IMO, they shot way too many catch and shoot 3s that you don't want to have to rely on. Relying on the 3 so heavily will come back to hurt on nights the 3s go cold

It's only the first game, so I'm not going to overreact either way. Just pointing out that some of the things we've seen McMahon's teams struggle with were still noticeable tonight against vastly inferior competition.

We won our season opener last year over ULM by 35. I’m not ready to crown them yet. Better than going to OT against Bethune Cookman though.

Every 3 point shooter showed they could drive the lane if needed. McKinney has done it 2 games in a row. Ball movement was way better than last year. Basketball ball IQ is higher on this team. And Reed still isn’t 100% and I believe Zipper has been injured. The defense was good from an intensity part but there were times they doubled and left a guy open. It’s early and they have time to get better before the competition gets better.

Obviously just one game and people who have been pretty negative towards the program will remind you of that and say we beat ULM 95-60 game one last year…

But it’s a completely different type of team. Last year our efficiency on offense was horrific. We just threw shots up and relied on 1v1 to score. With Thomas and tons of experience in the lineup, I really think we have potential to have an excellent offense. 21 assists on 33 FGs. We had 15 TOs, but several were entry passes that just went off the fingertips. If you have 20+ assists, you can live with 12-14 TOs.

Worried about defense. We play very hard, but our help and our switching gets lazy at times (been like this for years). They had 9 ORebs in first 12 mins then we locked in. But we have too much length and size for that.

Rotations will be interesting. Didn’t love the rotations tonight but usually takes 8-9 games to figure that out. By the time SEC players rolls around I hope Nwoko/Miller/Reed can settle into the 3 bigs rotation with Sutton playing the 3 and sometimes 4. Tamba hustles and plays hard but don’t know with bigger athletic Forwards. PJ Carter has a nice little catch a shoot shot, but King needs to take his minutes. King is an elite defender and seemed to always be in the middle of things. He didn’t play a ton but contributed in every stat category. And Reece is a nice young PG who plays with some swag and wants to pass first

Tarleton missed 42 shots. So they got an offensive rebound on 29% of their missed shots. LSU had 7 offensive rebounds on 14 missed shots. LSU also had 32 defensive rebounds on 42 missed shots (not counting free throws). Total rebounds LSU 39 Tarleton 21.

If this were true, professional gamblers would bankrupt every sports book in Vegas at the beginning g of every season (not to mention all of the other books).
