I know Wade has his reasons for making the schedule how it is. That being said, even a school with no basketball history in Alabama plays multiple top 25 power 5 schools in pre conference. It seems like a lot of the top tier SEC schools outside of us do.

Is there a particular reason for this?

Who knows...none of the local kowtowing beat guys will ask any LSU coach a tough question until he's buried up to his neck like O was.

Getting to the final four takes a lot of luck no matter how good your team is

I don’t think enough people realize this. It’s not like the 4 spots of the CFP. All about matchups.

Brennan, Miller, Michael Thomas / Jameis Winston, LSU defense, Zion... half expecting our entire starting pitching rotation’s arms to spontaneously fall off next week.

I’m just glad the team looks like they will be athletic, scrappy, & fun to watch.

It all depends on how they play Defense, which has traditionally been god awful under Gangsta Pear.......

That is, if we are strictly asking the opinion of the Student Section from last night.

Sweet 16 if we stay off the 8/9 line. Elite 8 if we stay off the 8/9 and there is an upset in our bracket.

Hard to say. Of course they are capable. 10 seeds have made the final four

Yup. How our draw falls will be key. The 38-1 Kentucky team might have been the most talented team ever in CBB. They still met the only team that was going to be a bad matchup and lost in the final 4.

The one thing I’m certain on, is that they will have a chance to beat every team they play. There is not a team in the country that you can say we just don’t have a chance to win. That hasn’t always been the case with LSU Bball and the simple fact we can compete with anyone is exciting

It will come down to our draw and how healthy we can stay.

True good solid team, Miller was the best 5 with him on the floor, still good team but not FF without Miller

Yes. Miller’s absence is the most absurd hypothetical detriment of all time

Georgia Tech may not sound great, but didn’t they win the ACC Tournament last season? I think they should at least have a decent team.

With Miller we were a potential E8 team without him we are a one and done. We will struggle to score in the half court against good defensive teams and our guards will be to inconsistent for us to win at that level.

Hope I am wrong…

I agree, the team looked really good yesterday but I think they will suffer not having a high scoring guard that can get his own shot like we have had in the past. Too bad Seneca Knight transferred out and Miller got hurt, I think either one would have really helped out this roster. They are having to play both Pinson and Gaines at the same time. Maybe Murray and Justice Williams can develop into key contributors towards the end of the season

I think there's Sweet Sixteen potential with the right luck. Seeding matters in terms of how easy your path to that second weekend is. We're going to have make our luck in the bracket by playing well all season long and staying off that 8/9 line.

Realistically, beyond luck, the concerns I have for us this season are consistent guard play (Gaines durability and decision-making), depth at the 5 (Reid in foul trouble could be a killer in a tight game), and defensive success (need improvement over past years). Any of those factors could bite us in March. Should be a blast to see how it all plays out this year, though. Geaux Tigers!
