I think the committee would jump at the chance to leave out the SEC.

If the other power conference winners only have one loss and FSU runs the table, the committee would love to make a statement of how unbiased they are and screw the SEC.

Michigan St./Ohio St. win Big 10 with 1 loss

TCU/Kansas ST. wins Big 12 with one loss

Florida St. wins ACC with 1 loss

They say that a 2 loss team wont go in front of a 1 loss team out of the big 5 conferences. LSU fan base is hoping for LSU to win the conference with 2 losses. If the "Chaos Scenario" plays out, does the SEC get left out?
I see it as a real possibility now that Oregon has convincingly beat Stanford. Only if Mich St is that B1G winner however, I don't see Ohio St displacing a 2 loss SEC team when those 2 losses by that team will have been against ranked teams more than likely.

ETA: I don't think the Playoff Committee REALLY did Ole Miss any favors with the rankings last week nor if they keep them in the top-10 this week. The favor is to Miss St... Ole Miss kept their 4 ranking on the edge of being displaced by Oregon (because they lost to a low-ranked LSU). And at #4 or now possibly they keep them in top-10. If Miss St loses the egg bowl, they only have 1 loss but to top-10 team which is enough to have a 3-way argument between Mich St, Oregon, and MSU.

My thought as well. This season the SEC West (by itself) is the best conference in college football. That will be taken into account. It's just like in basketball when you see a 4-5 loss (ACC, old Big East) team get a #1 seed in the tournament over a 1-2 loss team from a weak or mid-major conf.

If the other conference champions have one loss then I can see them excluding the SEC champion with two losses. There is so much SEC weariness across the country that there would be an eruption of joy from coast to coast if the SEC didn't make it in.

Who knows what will eventually happen but I believe if the SEC champ has two losses and the others only one then yes, we will be left out.

Will a hypothetical 2 loss SEC team be left out? I doubt it...especially if that team is Alabama somehow...

Will LSU be allowed into the playoff with 2 losses and jump over Mississippi State and Auburn in the rankings despite very convincing head to head losses?
That to me is the question. We have a better chance of winning the SEC west than to actually be allowed in. Why would we be ranked over a 2 loss Auburn or Miss State team, eh?

Everyone is saying State loses to Bama because it is a home game for Alabama. But remember, they play State the week after playing LSU. That is always a tough game for Alabama. They are beat up. So, not an automatic win. I think State can beat them at home.

true but

the only reason for a committee was to get it away from the MATH formula which could not be manipulated....
thus even the possibility of 3 SEC teams in the finals existed. the NCAA could not let that happen .. now hiding behind THE COMMITTEE

now 2 losses will not be the determining factor..
if we win out, the momentum and sports buzz will override the two losses

Possibly - especially if loss is in SEC championship game. It would be a travesty of justice if SEC West champion were left out of the playoff scenario b/c of 2 losses (in conference play). SEC West is by far the BEST division in all of college football. Everyone knows this. I do like Oregon, KState, and FState as top 3 w SEC champion (from West). That would be interesting. Oregon is best on offense, KState is best on defense. FState just refuses to lose. SEC champion (no matter who it is would represent very well IMHO).

I like the way you are thinking! Would love to see how this scenario plays out - especially if that team in SEC West is L....S....U.....

No matter how u look at it if there is any chance they can get Bama in the champion ship play off it will happen. All the sport writers are so busy hanging on Sabans balls, they have trouble seeing the rest of the teams!

they said SOS is one of the criteria...considering we are in the hardest SOS possibly in the history of college football in our division...

No way a 2 loss sec champion gets left out.

This would be the only one of the four listed that would go ahead of a 2 loss SEC Champ.

Are you pulling for state to win that game?

Not sure who "they" are here, but I heard Jeff Long say essentially the exact opposite in response to this question during the committee's 10/28 press conference.

Can't find a link, but I know what I heard.
