Guidry has balls the size of cantaloupes!
Give me that and his experience all day long!

Guidry basically walks out there and says
“Alright MF’er here comes a bunch of curveballs and you can’t hit it b****!

Jay is a modern coach. he’s not that into closer role.

would you rather have your best relief pitched fact 789 hitters in the 9th IF the game is close or have him have 123 in the 7-8th in a 2 run game.

He also is out there recruiting guys who were all starters at the last level, so he wants dudes to give him 2 innings if they can. so limiting anyone of them to a 9th inning specialist doesn’t need to happen at this level

Fortunately, we really haven’t needed one yet. I know Guidry played the role some last year, but personally, I do not have faith in him. I kinda like the idea of Eyanson moving there with his velocity and that breaking ball, but he struggles to get going.
Who ya got?

Everything you typed is dumb. I am not sure whether or not you are a troll or if you are really this dumb.

Eyanson takes an inning or 2 to settle in. Not ideal for your closer

Evans will give up some bombs this year most likely. He’s that style. How will he react as a freshman?

1. Evans has been lights out this year, he's pretty obvious a high leverage later innings guy

2. Guidry has repeatedly delivered for us in the past, he will factor in big in high leverage situations

3. Closer role is overrated, we will have more close games in SEC play now but we'd rather a guy go 2-3 innings in 7-8-9 than wait till the 9th inning to bring in a guy to shut someone down for 1 inning

The reason Jay stretched so many guys out this past fall/spring is to see who he could not only rely on to start but guys like Cowan who could also handle multiple innings later in game

You want your best pitchers pitching as many high leverage innings as they can. If we set a "Closer" role for someone he might get 15-20 innings of work all season long. I'd rather a guy if hes one of our best pitchers get a lot more work than that.

Ain't played a good team yet to judge

We played ranked Dallas Baptist. Casan Evans got the save.

We played Kansas State, who has multiple ranked wins and played multiple top 5 teams within 3 runs. Casan Evans threw two shutout frames in the 9th and 10th and got the win.

If you want to have a defined closer role, Casan Evans has done it against two tournament teams with tournament experience.

As Lester said, we have multiple guys who can and will close out games. Guidry, I believe Rizy, Cowan, Benge, Dorsey, Schmidt, and Ware are all capable. Evans has been the guy so far against the best competition.

It’s the SEC. The balls are juiced, the ballparks are small, and every lineup has future professional players. Everyone will give up some bombs, burry.

If he only we did close that out. Who knows what could have happened in Omaha. We could be going for a 3-peat this year

Most sec parks are hitter friendly.

Don't get me wrong, we blew a golden opportunity to make it back to Omaha, but that team last year had only a slightly better chance to win a title than it did the second UNC made the final out.

We weren't winning a title.

To add to that he wants to move a starter that just struck out 15 in a game.... That's some next level chess

Bro, why are you always on here trying to impart your wisdom on the tiger rant? The closer, while it has been changed slightly due to baseball going more with matchups and using the best arm in the highest leverage, is still an extremely important part of any bullpen. Just bc a few different guys will earn saves doesn't mean that we won't have a guy that will be looked at to get the final few outs in important games. Guys usually perform better when they understand their role, and those roles will become evident as the season progresses.

A four pitch guy who struggles to get going? That’s your guy for closer? Come on, man!

Definitely. Dude just struck out 15 dudes in 7 innings in his last start. Let's punish him.

because i love ball, and there is a lot of misinformation posted on here.

Someone has to "close" a game. This doesn't mean its your best pitcher or the same pitcher every time. Situations dictate who you use, and when, and that is not always the last outs of the game.

Did I say it wasn't important? No. I said it was devalued, and it is.

LSU does not need to have a "legit" closer, and likely wont have the same guy close games over and over.
