Our only chance to "host" is if host sites are chosen by metrics OTHER THAN the host team's record. Maybe park size, seating, and parking availability as well as proximity of hotels. And even then, I seriously doubt we have a chance.

It will be interesting to see what bearing the conference tourneys have on the regional team selections. In basketball, the field seemed like it was pretty much set prior to the conference tourneys. We need to finish our conference slate well, and not expect to get any help from a good conference tourney showing.

Lets say we beat #1 Arkansas, win the rest of the series and sweep one. Make a run in the SEC tourney by either going to the finals or semis. We also have the #1 soc in the nation which helps. ik its a long shot but...
So, finish 9-3 (which would make us .500 in conference), series win over Arkansas, run in tournament.
Honestly, I'd say yes.
But, we all know that's not going to happen.
LSU needs to hope for 13-17 in conference, maintain high RPI, and a win or two in the tournament. Hopefully, that gets us a bid.
Let's be honest. There's a MUCH better chance LSU doesn't make the tournament at all than it does of being a host.

Tigers have work to do, to even MAKE a regional. First, they must qualify for the SEC tourney, and probably win at least 2 games.
LSU did just that in 2010, and WON the SEC tourney. They were rewarded by being shipped out to an unfavorable site at UCLA.

blew a 11 run lead to the same team
Huge distinction from the LSU situation. The Hogs had the resolve to win their game. LSU folded like a cheap tent offensively after the 5th inning and couldn't hit their way out of a paper bag. And after Coleman's trouble in the 8th, the team just sorta curled up and died.

almost zero chance of hosting. Making is likely. Let's get hot.

If we go 12-0 in the final 4 series and sweep the SECT, sure.

This is our one chance to host. NCAA might want to punish deserving schools like MSU and Ole Miss for some political reason. They may have the Box as a host site, with LSU as a 2 or 3 seed.

I feel like geography will be play a much larger role this year as far as where teams are sent. I can't see us, for instance, being sent to UCLA this year. They'll try to keep teams in state as much as possible then move to the next closest option. La Tech would be our most likely destination, and I would love that. If not Ruston, we may be looking at Starkville or Oxford. Just a guess really, though.

does LSU still have a chance to host a regional?
No chance. Best case regional scenario for LSU for be for Louisiana Tech to host, LSU is placed as a 3 or 4 seed and pulls off an upset in Ruston.
I think we will see most of the regionals hosted in states that have loosened COVID restrictions, so hopefully that means LSU doesn't have to travel out to the West Coast.

They are choosing host sites on May 12th. I am sure LSU put in a bid but the only way they are getting one is if they are taking merit completely out of the picture and basing it on where fans will show up.

If LSU sweeps the rest of our series we MIGHT get a chance to host

Possibly . . . If every major college campus gets shut down due to Covid except for LSU.

If we were to end the season on a 12-0 win streak in conference and end at 18-12 we would definitely host a regional. That would involve us finishing the back half of the season at 14-1 with wins against #11 Ole Miss on the road and a sweep of #1 Arkansas.
Unfortunately if regional sites are chosen before this fictional run occurred and Alex Box wasn’t selected as one of the sites, we’d simply be the #1 seed and “host” at another location.
