Seeing these backups in Greedy Williams and Kary Vincent show real impressive skills, I wonder if maybe we should bench Donte Jackson for Kristian Fulton to see how he preforms. Donte has been the only liability in our secondary thus far and his technique is really bad. he relies too much on his raw speed to make a play but it looks like he hasnt made that expected talent jump from last season to this season.

Thoughts?

I still can't believe Vincent caught that.

What has Jackson done that was so bad these first 2 games.

He's came up and mad a few tackles and has not gotten burned. He hasn't really been challenged, probably due to not their teams targeting the freshmen.

I just dot get why this board seems to want freshmen starting at every position.

The only problem thus far I've seen with DJ is on punt returns and he's been replaced.

yes...fastest player in college football...why he isn't playing on offense some is beyond me...very underutilized.

When UT-Chattanooga is picking on you then maybe you shouldn't be starting

Tolliver
Greedy
Kary

Put him on those dime package, jet sweeps and KOs

Tough call. Greedy could be on a Honey Badger level eventually and there are few wide receivers in the NFL who could make that catch Kary Vincent did. I would be very careful throwing against LSU. Not to mention the pressure we get.

My only problem with Donte is he looks like he chirps a lot at the opponent after plays. I don't want him to get a stupid 15 yard penalty in a conference game.

I would think we would use more press coverage. We have DBs playing to far off especially against a team like last night.

2 games in, he will improve and probably split time with KT2. Relax!

Greedy is our CB1 right now but as long as the secondary doesn't leak like crazy I don't care who plays.

When did they pick on him?

They went after Greedy more than anyone else and he made them pay.

The entire defense looked bad the first drive but I do t recall them singling out Jackson.

On the TD drive by UTC, Delpit and Tolliver were the ones who gave up the huge play.

DJ has been fine the first 2 games. Still not sure why people are so eager to replace him. He's been much more productive during their time here than KT.

I been saying that since last year. He does good things sometimes and really bonehead things the other half. I think Donte would kill it in that Dwayne Thomas role blitzing off the edge

It's not that crazy of a question from OP. I wish I could find a stat that shows how many PI calls Jackson had last year. I recall it being a lot. I've thought he was a liability for a while.

A lot of the completions in that drive went against Donte. Greedy plays better man coverage than Donte is what it seems. But Donte was money when playing zone. When he can fly to the line and blow up a screen play is when he was at his absolute best.

Greedy's technique has been masterful these past two games though. It's nice to have this much depth at a position.

I wish LSU had a good DB coach and a competent DC so that they could be as good at selecting players and playing time as posters are.

This terrible coaching is going to cause me to lose my hair worrying that the opponents might score 15 TDs combined all year.

I think he has played fine. Most people are just nervous about him after that horrific performance in the Florida game.

One of the first downs plays in that drive was a pick. happens to the best of dbs. Clemson was very successful against bama using picks in the championship game last year.
