Jeff George went to the University of Illinois.
quote:
George transferred after a year at Purdue University because the coach who recruited him, Leon Burtnett, was fired. Burtnett's replacement was Fred Akers, who had been known for his teams that used a run-heavy option type offense that required a more mobile quarterback. George subsequently committed to the University of Miami, but he backed out when coach Jimmy Johnson would not guarantee him a starting job at the quarterback-rich school. George stayed at Illinois for two years, leaving with a year of eligibility remaining after being assured he would be drafted as one of the first five picks of the NFL draft (he was picked No. 1 overall).

doesn't count lol
If Etling some how turns out to be a good to great NFL QB, will he be a Boilermaker or Tiger in your eyes?

Should've kicked somebody's arse the first day and avoided that. At least according to Rob Newhouse's client in Minimum Security.

quote:I wouldn't be shocked if he does that. If you want to compare QBs from similar systems, look at Brandon Allen at Arkansas. Same ground-and-pound philosophy. Compare their stats, and you see Harris has been better each step of the way.
Harris healthy with a year of actual game play under his belt and 2 years of reps will be the best QB in the SEC next season....
Allen's jr year is what tdeucen is predicting.

the school still counts him though, so it counts

Harris had a better first year than Allen and Prescott two of the better QB'S ad we saw improvement up till the Alabama game in which he was hurt.

quote:I'm curious to learn more about that. Why here? Did this influence Etling? Is he making connections with LSU, the major university in his new home town... and a team with a traditionally big hole at a position he knows?
After retiring from the NFL in 2014, Orton and his wife moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to raise their daughter. Orton intends to mentor high school and college-level football players in Louisiana.
I mean, Orton isn't running the Manning camp, but he's got a decade in the NFL. He's probably a guy that could teach a kid something (actually, since he ISN'T a Manning, he might be able to teach more about working within your own limitations to improve). And like I said, he's working with local kids, at the one position we desperately need.

He's gonna fill the void that Stephen Rivers left behind.

I don't like seeing that mess either. But, let's be honest, Quinn was a 3rd-4th option in the passing game here. If he showed better when it counts, i.e. practice/game time. He would've taken snaps away from Dupre and Dural.

it isn't, "if I say so" the school still counts him. not sure why you want to be dense about the issue.

His wife is from here. That's it.

Let it go man, he's in their stat books, but the facts are, he will be known as fighting Illini when his college career is reflected upon.
No one says, "Jeff George of Purdue," honestly no one probably cares either lol.

The guy had a great arm and terrible temperament, I couldn't stand to watch Mullet Man play. Especially for Atlanta.

He was thrown in a sticky situation at Purdue. Inexperienced OLine that didn't block for a shite. Think he started 5-6 games and got sacked roughly 16 times.
Don't know if talent is the word but characteristics to win the job? I think so.
Smart player who can dissect defenses with the work ethic second to none. Danny is pretty quick and can move for his size, 6'1ish about 215 but don't see that part of his game as a threat w/ SEC speed. I can tell you that he's competing for that starting spot which won't allow BHarris to get comfortable and complacent. Going to take a lot take it he starting spot from Brandon but anything can happen.
Take it for what it's worth but that's my 2 cents on him.

Are you talking about Etling or Jeff George? I hope Etling can make it happen, I've watched some game video with him and he seems like he can make things happen given the opportunity. Hell if he can give LSU a Kyle Orton clone in college we will shock a few The college football world.

So an 18 year old freshman couldn't come in and take the starting job so he sucks? Should Every freshman at LSU that can't win the position be ran off?
Yea no way he can be better than the guy that threw his way to the 109th passing offense in the country last year
