His stats look decent, but I haven't seen any film on the guy....

Anybody know anything about this kid at Purdue?

All I know is that he didn't have the talent to win the QB job at Purdue.

Etling likely isn't going to be the answer here, but that quote is ignorant. Not attacking, not picking a fight, just pointing out- it's an ignorant comment. From Wikipedia:
quote:

According to ESPN.com, Purdue QBs have won (and started) more NFL games than any other school; thrown for the most touchdowns and yards in the NFL. Purdue QBs have won more League TD titles (14 through the 2012 NFL season) than any other school.

So, consider that. Purdue has been far more successful than LSU when it comes to QBs; it wouldn't be a shocker if a guy that couldn't start there could still come start here, or a lot of other places.

It would be like saying that so-and-so wasn't good enough to start at linebacker at Penn State, so he must be crap.

That doesn't have much to do with now though.

Purdue is 6-30 the last 3 years so it'd be extremely shocking.

When you are talking Drew Brees, Len Dawson, Jeff George, Jim Everett, and Bob Greise yea...

However, the last 2 QB's they've sent to the NFL were Curtis Painter and Drew Brees.... so 2 QB's in the last 15 years....

The answer to the OP is YES. He Absolutly has the talent.

He won't beat Harris though. Even though we didn't see it as much as we wanted or expected, the read option is a big part of this offense. HARRIS IS YOUR 2016 QB

You mean he's finally learned how to hit the receiver on a 10 yard pass? Awesome! Then he obviously must be the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Harris healthy with a year of actual game play under his belt and 2 years of reps will be the best QB in the SEC next season.....

2800 Yards 22 TD 5 INT

Dude was 7th best last year and 4 above him graduated/transferred so he is automatically 4th... Dobbs doesn't come close to what he was last year and Kelly will miss Treadwell and Tunsil

Didn't Kyle Orton play there too? Not that he's elite, but he had a better career in the NFL than anyone we produced at the same time. A few respectable seasons, far better overall numbers than, say, Matt Flynn has had.

Weird, here's another wikipedia note, one I never knew:
quote:

After retiring from the NFL in 2014, Orton and his wife moved to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, to raise their daughter. Orton intends to mentor high school and college-level football players in Louisiana.

The two previous starting QBs wouldn't have started at Purdue either

Forgot Orton came out in 2005...

However most of their wins/championships come from the players I listed. It isn't like we are talking a hot bed for QB's in the NFL that is producing record setting QB's each year. Purdue had a period where their offense was one of the best in CFB but that was a long time ago and their recruiting, offense, and overall team has basically stunk for several years. Getting Purdue leftovers is not seen as a good thing at this point anymore.

I mean we should go after every Pittsburgh, Illinois, and Minnesota kid because those schools have produced some of the most NFL Hall of Famers...
