Does Clemson even score 20 on this stingy defense?

I do not think they get to 20. Maybe 16, against this loaded defense. At home. What say you?

stingy defense? we have not even seen them yet.
let's wait until gameday and see what we have. we SHOULD be good. how good remains to be seen.
we do not have any practice film this year like in past years. CLK has shutdown practice to the media and i like it.

How would anyone know how good or bad our defense will be without seeing any games or live scrimmages?
How would anyone know how good Clemson will be this year after so many new faces?
Just stop

Clemson might be the 8th or 8th best team we play this year
45-17

Without seeing our defense yet Idk how you could possibly come to this conclusion....

All we have seen is basically warm ups
Baker likes his squad and I am hoping for a stingy arse defense as well.

What makes you say this about a team that hasn't played a game yet? I hope you're right, but give it time before you label

What’s the LSU team total?
Posted on 9/1/26 at 8:27 am to pitchandcatch27
Clemson only scored 10 on LSU last year at home & with Klubnik.

Just watch the games, then we'll all know. And we really won't have a good feel for it until we're 75% of the way through the season.

This.
Baker's two LSU defenses have ranked 11th (24) and 5th (25) in total defense in the SEC. That (at least last year) is good, but not dominant. From the outside looking in there are reasonable questions that need to be answered re: the DL, LB depth, and CB depth.
The minimal reports out of camp are LSU is going to rely on some true freshmen to be a big part of the DT rotation. Hopefully they are great, but that can be a really tough ask of true freshmen. Especially now where OLs are older and more experienced than ever before. At DE there is one player, Umanmielen, that seems to be a potential star. Outside of him though the rest of the guys have been more or less (at best) average players throughout their college careers. LSU has also been proactive in trying to bring in NFL cuts at DL. It's hard to think that is just a coincidence.
Weeks and Dottery should be a very good LB duo. Maybe the best in the SEC. Beyond that there is more uncertainty in terms of great quality. Kind of the same at CB with Woodland and Pickett.
On the flip side there are many more new faces on offense. However, in six years Lane never had an offense that ranked lower than 3rd in the SEC. Most years, including last year, that was with several new transfers playing key roles. So there is no reason to think he won't be able to keep that level of success going at LSU immediately.

We haven't played a single down of football yet this season. Although I have a ton of faith in this team, We still have EVERYTHING to prove.

I don't think we'll know if we are and just how stingy we are for a few weeks. I honestly don't think Saturday's game will answer that.
I will be interested to see if Baker with this collection of players can at least slow down running QB's. I actually thought we had good talent on D last year and Vandy and A&M embarrassed us.

Right. I hope it's a stingy defense, but until we see them vs other teams, we do not know.
LSU was 58th nationally in total defense in 2024 and 53rd in points allowed per game vs FBS teams.
In 2025, they were 28th in total defense and 24th in points allowed per game vs FBS teams.
So the hope is that we progress even more under Baker with potentially better personnel but we can't know until we play at least a few games.
