Does anyone think LSU BB is going to escape the Smart/Wade stuff unscathed?
There has to be eventual consequence from the NCAA at some point, right? It may be 3-4 years down the road, but it is coming.

Hey if we're lucky NCAA will hit ULL with sanctions as our punishment.

I do, the coronavirus was perfectly timed to cover up that mess. Well played General Wade!

I love how they had a little hit piece all ready to go (which contained zero new information) the week of the tournament only for the tournament to get canceled.

Something will probably happen. When and how severe the penalty is the question. Hopefully nothing too significant based on what we already know.

Who paid the money ? Has that been established? Has it been established that someone received money? Asking bc in the Arizona case there is direct evidence of who paid , who received and how much was paid. They can actually trace the money. Will be interesting to see if they can connect dots.

If I had to wager, I would think at worst we get docked a few scholarships, maybe a few recruiting visits, etc.

I have several reasons for feeling this way.

1- Our ad is married to the head of the NCAA's daughter. He also took this job while this "situation" was brewing. He knew full well about any cloud Wade may have put over the program. And yes I am aware Woodard has language in his contract that absolves him from any problems before he came here.

2- Wade is KILLING IT on the recruiting trail. This dude is showing no signs of any concern over possible sanctions. I think the normal behavior when "caught" would be to lay back and not make as much noise on the trail as you were before. Just settle for the decent team you have and try to weather the storm. Wade gives ZERO flucks, and is going full steam.

3- Wade has the same lawyer as Sean Miller. From everything made public, Miller should have been fired long ago from what we know. He has gone nowhere. I am pretty sure Arizona hasn't even received an NOA. This leads me to believe that the lawyer has leverage on the NCAA. Imagine if the lawyer paid an aau coach to wear a wire while speaking to a high profile coach or coaches, resulting in a highly incriminating recording of a major coach with his hand in the cookie jar. How in demand would you be as a lawyer with the NCAA over a barrel. Heck, you might even be able to get a coach like Wade who is in deep doo doo to pay you top dollar to keep the NCAA at bay, while he continues to wreck shite.

I truly believe we have a young coach who is pissing off the big coaches and programs, and those parties are using their minions (vitale, forde, wolken) to smear our coach, who is doing nothing more than beating everybody ar their own game.

The answer to the question is "we don't know"?

This is a unique situation in terms of NCAA investigations as the alleged violations are not just limited to one or two schools, but several schools all at once. Basically, it exposed that the "rule breaking" is systemic, not the actions of a rouge program/coach. And while they won't admit it, the NCAA KNEW all along what was going on. So do they start to gut its (the NCAA) most lucrative sport (the NCAAT accounts for nearly 80% of the NCAA's revenue), one that has been declining in interest since the 1990's?

It is hard to think LSU/Wade comes away "unscathed". But it's not that unreasonable to think they might. The NCAA has never been a model of consistency from an enforcement standpoint, and other big programs have had some far more unsavory transgressions they "survived" (Louisville was literally providing prostitutes for recruits). UNC essentially created fake classes for their athletes over a period of two decades and the basketball program (who the fake classes benefited the most) suffered no penalties whatsoever.

First question should be has it been established that it was money that was offered or exchanged. I love how everyone conveniently continues to skip over that piece.

And before all the morons run to the board to say, "come on man, we all know that he was talking about money." I don't disagree that the inference is pretty obvious; but it is just that, an inference. While I'm not so naive or purple and gold colored glasses to think that Wade or LSU is as pure as the driven snow, it just continues to baffle me how some of our so called "fans" want to state this conclusion as a given and known fact, when it isn't.

You think Wade sat out on coaching LSU in the postseason because he was talking about something other than money?

Or forfeited all his bonus money & then re worked his contract, making it easier to fire him?

People always take this point as a flame, only because they know that, but don’t want to admit it

I just hope our AD will stand behind the coach and let him continue if the allegations are baseless and won’t amount to anything. Can’t give Dick Vitale any more wins.

Admit What?
The OP did not name any charges. Why all the hate?
I expect in the next twenty years there will be two statues erected on the campus.
Orgeron and Wade.

What a time to be an LSU fan.
I'll soon be 78. I've endured decades of mediocrity.
I suppose its difficult to appreciate our program unless you lived through Cholly Mac, Hallman, and Dinardo. All those race horses sitting on the bench and us running three yards and a cloud of dust. I hope I live long enough to see all three programs at the top.
If Brennan is the man and we get Cisse, We comin.

All they have is Wade talking about some hypothetical
You never know with the NCAA
They have more concrete evidence against Kansas and Arizona

Hard to believe Arizona has not received notice yet

IF you buddy Alleva wasn't in charge then, none of that likely happens. Keep holding on to it though.

No I just don’t like getting too excited about something and then having it crash in on itself. I find it hard to be over optimistic about the future when there’s the threat of this hanging over the program’s head. I wish there was some kind of closure either way (obviously I’d prefer a positive one for LSU).
