Anybody calling it a "routine fly ball" is an idiot. It's one of those tough plays that didn't go our way that you expect at a college level.

Agree. There were multiple factors that affected the play imo. I believe he makes that catch in most situations. I was behind that RF fence on Saturday, and it was a challenge for others as well.

Edit: During the game on Saturday, our RF (don’t remember who) lost a foul ball in the lights.

Looked to me like he might have lost it in the lights. he was in position to make the play. Has he made any statement about that. It has happened before.
exactly what happened. He was under it the wall didn’t have anything to do with it just lost sight of the ball. The time of it sucks but it happens

It's not for us to judge. Do you also need to look at the homerun he hit?

what that was as routine as it gets. He didn’t make the play it happens but there was nothing overly difficult about that play that a college level outfielder shouldn’t make 100 times out of 100

Most likely lost it in the lights. It is what it is

The ball was tailing toward the foul line (his right to left) as RF is much different from LF and CF, he lost it in the lights, and there's the distraction of people screaming through the opening in the fence right next to him. He didn't get his glove on the ball, and with his phenomenal eye-hand coordination, I think this is because he lost it in the lights. I score it a double, not an error.
Please accept this as my fairly educated "opinion." I don't have an LSU baseball contact

Brown was drafted by the Rangers as a pitcher. He's a lefty and also played 1B in high school. I think he'll be an pitching and position-player all-american candidate at LSU. He can play anywhere he wants and will be a 1st-2nd round draft pick in 2 years. He's such a good athlete and can hit, which is why he's in the OF vs. 1B.

LSU lost because they scored only 3 runs vs. a patched-together pitching staff, were 0-5 with RISP, etc. And the true frosh Brown homered in the game!

There were a bunch of balls that looked more routine than this one that ended up being not caught or looked very awkward making the catch. The people blaming this one play or this kid for the loss is a complete moron and has zero baseball IQ!! This kid is a freshman that has come in clutch in post season and who was moved to RF in a park he wasn't familiar with trying to catch his first ball against the wall there...If you've never done it, or tried it, shut up!
I think we have the best coach is college baseball, but I think the NC coach won this game with his shifts! NC seemed to always be shifted in the right place and LSU seemed to never be shifted in the right place! I also think if not for a complete stroke of luck on the bunt that went foul, this board would be lit up with people bashing Tommy White and the staff for not being in a position to get an out when everyone in the country knew the batter was bunting.
Rest assured though, JJ will not take a minute off this offseason pounding that portal and bringing in some studs! These young guys just got a lot of experience and will come back better from it, etc.
Now, relax, let's join together and root for anyone but Tennessee the rest of the post season.

This is something I thought of too. When I played LF I hated fly balls from lefties because of the spinning to the foul pole

It’s much different for a RF catching a right handed fly ball going backwards.

Can't imagine the range of emotions he experienced in the last two innings. We've discussed the fly ball ad nauseum, but how about just a few minutes prior? He flies out to the track in the deepest part of the park. If he pulls that ball just a little, it's a walk off home run.

It is for us, as fans, to watch and judge performance and be entertained. I'm not bashing him at all. It was a difficult ball for sure, but assume more experienced OF's to make the play more often than not. But this is college baseball and plays like that is what makes it more exciting.

Absolutely it would have been the most acrobatic catch of the season. I don’t know how it even touched his glove, lol

This is probably what happened. No problem with saying that at all. It happens to the best fielders.

There is no guarantee that we win in the 11th or after.

With the way we were hitting, it might have been another 9 innings before we scored.

He also whiffed on his AB in the 9th with RISP, that would have won the game.

UNC had timely hits, LSU did not and was not very good at that part all season.
