Was this so docs could take call back in the pre beeper days?

In the glorious days before piped music and BS mid field intros to pass the time during TV timeouts, this was the only game interruption.

Once beepers got popular, these announcements went away...

Happened like 10 times a game.

And guess what. The stadium was full.

Good times.

As I recall Sid Crocker would announce "Doctor number ---, please call your medical exchange", repeat.

YEP
Boy Scout ushers
Drinks served up and down the stairs
Peanuts thrown to the buyer and the change passed down
Tiny bathrooms
Mike toured around the field in his horse trailer before the game
end zones painted in both LSU and the visiting team colors
Those were much better days.

Actually, it was, "Doctor...number (123), please call medical exchange"

The fun part was when some random guy in a t-shirt and overalls would stand and say, " Guess I gotta go!", wait for a laugh, and sit back down

I also liked the old font for the end zones, not the current one...

The Doctor mantra was in every stadium as I recall in he distant past. Thanks OP, I haven't remembered that in years.

I remember at a basketball game the paged Dr 069 right as Derrick Taylor was shooting a long 3 against Kentucky. He nailed it!
