You’ll get downvoted but yes, he strikes out a ton against college pitching which is a pretty big red flag. But a team should be able to grab him in the later rounds and work on his plate discipline and give him a B swing. His swing against Arky to walk them off was a thing of beauty. If he could consistently have an approach like that when he gets behind I think he could be a steal

Bear Jones’s ceiling is Kyle Schwarber

He just also has a very low floor.

Idk
i feel like less talented players
with significantly worse chances of making the pros are being taken ahead of him.

but they have not taken a single right handed first basemen so far

He would have been. More than likely at a certain point he told teams not to bother because he still had a year to play and maintain leverage.

My recollection was he pulled his name from the draft after he didn't go by the point he expected, maybe right after day 1 or a slightly later round.

And some of yall just kept saying he’s a big leaguer while striking out an average of 3 times per game lol

I know you’re using hyperbole but he played in 68 games and had 85 K’s on the season.

At what point in the draft is his signing bonus < his potential 2026 NIL money?

Because IMO when he reaches that point, he may as well come back. I'm assuming it's the number of strikeouts that caused this drop, especially his weakness at the slider away?

I mean, he could become the all time LSU Homerun leader and get his name up on the stadium.

Probably not a good enough reason but it is a reason. I’d be thrilled to have another year.

Honestly, I love The guy, and he is a great college player

He may also be a good contributor in the MLB. But his specialty pretty much puts him in the worst position possible in the MLB. There is not really a shortage of hit for power DH type guys in the MLB. He doesn’t really fit into a position, he isn’t fast, he isn’t what I what consider a hit for power AND hit for average guy

If he has another arrow in his quiver, he would’ve been gone a while ago

Making more at LSU is better than the AAA road grind for peanuts.

He wouldn't make more at LSU than he would in AAA, and they fly in AAA.

He definetely would make more at LSU than Triple A. Do you know what they make in Triple A? peanuts is what they make. And they fly at LSU also

Do you know what kind of offer he would get if they thought he could go directly to triple A?

They fly everywhere in AAA. Is it really that hard to get?

He wouldn’t be in AAA for years, if ever. He will start in low A ball.

Not just that but does the fact that he could come back and become the career HRs leader in school history not hold any weight?

Go back to LSU, become a legend that is certfied in the record books forever or go ride a bus from shitty town to shitty town for a few hundred thousand dollars?

I really don't care what kind of offer he would get. He's probably asking for too much money just like he did last year. Nobody is drafting him with the stats he had against SEC pitching and all the strikeouts. Might have to come back and improve his stock.

If not Rookie League.

I mean, he really can’t hit a breaking pitch.

not coming back. He will take an UDFA contract before coming back to LSU. He’s won two nattys and had a great college career. It’s time for him to go be a pro

In his shoes I think I would be impatient to take my shot. Because if he's not going to make the majors he has to figure out what comes next. I'm sure another year at LSU and possibly another title would be loads of fun but if the day is coming to hang 'em up and pursue a mundane career . . .I think I'd want to know.

He’s not likely to improve his stock any.

But he could come back and enjoy one more year of being paid to play college ball before the grind of the minors. He could also make a run at Cresse/Furness.

His stock dips to a $20k signing bonus next draft no matter what he does if he stays.

If he comes back it won't be to "improve his stock".

I've just looked it up and Louis Coleman played his Senior Year at LSU and signed for $100.000, so that $20,000 may definitely not be written in stone
