Do you have a couple of houses in your neighborhood that are always for sale?

Someone will buy it then a year later it's on the market?

I can't figure this out. I've been in the neighborhood about 12 years and these 2 have been bought and sold at least 5 times each.

Haunted is the first thing that comes to mind. Do the buyers think it won't happen to them?

No, but if a hurricane pops up out of nowhere, I know where to go.

The ones in my neighborhood that are always for sale need a lot of work done on them. The new owner never fixes them because they spent all the money on the mortgage. Rinse. Repeat.

Have you checked to make sure they sold? For a lot of houses like that, they go on the market to sell while simultaneously being on the market to rent. If it rents before it sells, they pull the listing down. When that tenant leaves, they re-list it.

I have not. You may be onto something.

Seems like it's always the first house in the neighborhood everywhere I've lived.

Yea, i think those houses have problems you would never think about, but makes them unenjoyable to live in. For example, maybe a drainage trench cuts through the backyard, and it seems fine when you go look at it. But then you realize it stays swampy back there for weeks at time after a heavy rain. Or a very small bedroom or bathroom. During the walkthrough, you see a bathroom and it is functional, but a little small. Then you unpack all your stuff and realize it is unenjoyably small. Weird layouts. etc.

I sold and moved out of my home.. Because the psycho next door neighbor with no electric, water or sanitation kept having meth parties all night. They wee always starting fires, going through the trash, never had a job.

They always knew when I left for work. Knew when my wife went to work, when we got back.. Got fearful for my animals, family and the home in General.

Packed up 40 years of WWII collecting and moved it because I was fearful of break ins, sold the home...

and am happy now living in a neighborhood where children ride bicycles and not tweekers....

The houses were so close together you would be asleep at night hearing them go bump in the house... And since the house was trashed they would not use the front door.. Used the side gate by my house.

Won't take long for the new owners to figure out when there is an 8 foot high steel fence on the west side.

There is one about a block from me that I know a lady was killed in while she was in her front room. A car was running from the cops, crashed into her house.

It’s this more often than you’d think.

I know of a few that are rumored to be and are sold every few years. In a town though not one neighborhood.

From back in my days doing property inspections for insurance companies, this is fairly common. All sorts of issues that won’t be noticed when touring the home and may not be caught by the pre-sale home inspector.

Also, a nightmare neighbor.

We've been in our neighborhood 6 years, there's one house that's practically been for sale the whole time, they'll list it, it won't sell, relist it, they've rented it out once or twice, it's currently back for sale. The interior is fine but the exterior could use a good pressure wash and they've never done any landscaping so it has no curb appeal and looks unkept.

ETA: There's also an abandoned house in my hood. From what I understand no one has been there in ~10 years and a neighbor still cuts the grass to keep it from looking like trash. Someone even pays the light bill, as the porch light is always on.

Prob major issues like foundation or some unfixable leak that aren’t obvious in an inspection.

The first house I bought was a year old. Within a couple months a leak started over an extended bay window. Always a bad leak too. If it wasn’t prepared within one rain, it’d damn near cave all the Sheetrock above in. Lived there for 4 years, and it was like clockwork every 6 months to a year it would come back. Got it ‘fixed’ the last time, replaced all the Sheetrock and sold.

I live in Arabi, Louisiana. There are several new builds that have been sitting for years. Less than 400k too!

I did... Nothing was the result.

The guy was pooping in plastic bags and throwing them in other peoples yards... But without a police witness to the event.. They could do nothing but sit on the main street and write speeding tickets.

It's the opposite in my neighborhood because it's a great location and we are adjacent to the three most desirable elementary schools in town (one public; two private.) Houses don't go on the market often but when they do, they're not listed for more than a week or two.

This one got me.. wife (no pics) and I have been looking around outside of town. This one checks all our boxes, but we'd need them to come down about $80k because of the retarded interior decisions. "Interior Design by Patti LaBelle" or some shite. I'd bet it stays on the market for many months.
