Can he lead the team in rushing as well?
He doesn't need. Like 99% of all other quarterbacks.

Dude, c'mon.
This isn’t an observation or my opinion, it’s coming straight from Brian Kelly’s mouth. The LSU HC has said multiple times that both could have started the last two years. The difference was that Jayden could improvise when the pocket broke down and make huge plays on the ground.
As far as throwing arm, accuracy and understanding defenses, Nuss was right there with him and was better in some areas. Look at the Georgia game last year. The offense was very stagnant until Nuss came into the game.
The only real negative for him was mobility and decision making. He needs to check down more to open WR’s. He’s also able to move outside the pocket, he’s just not Jayden Daniel’s when he does. He’d also hold the ball a little too long and take sacks.
Basically if he gets better with check downs and quick decision to run/pass, then he’s going to be a top 5 QB in the SEC. He will need a couple of plug n play WR’s out of the transfer portal but he’s got all the tools you need and then some. I think he’ll be just as good as Burrow was with his escape ability, if he makes his decisions to run/pass quickly. That will come with experience.
He’s going to have to work hard this offseason with his new WR’s and the younger guys who might get playing time. They have to know each other and trust each other. If they get that done then I have no doubt in my mind that he’ll have a great season the next two years. Just fix the defense and ST’s.

Damn looks like the fans are exactly 50/50 on this!

We are not nearly as close as you think. Coaching and talent are lacking on defense and now we’re turning over at QB and WR.
The defensive problems go beyond the coordinator. We’re scrambling for defensive portal additions every year and it’s for bodies not difference makers.

I agree woth the OP for this reason:
I have been a fan of LSU for over 50 years, and I have been in and out of a rut of negativity, for at least a decade. Watching LSU win it all in 03, then 07, then finally again in 19, has been a rollercoaster ride of elation and disappointment.
I believe now, with Kelly, we have a legitimate chance of some consistency, which is what we seem to be starving for now.
To me it's refreshing to hear the LSU coach speak intelligently and be respected, instead of being a kooky spectacle. I have hopes that talent is being attracted to LSU more and more. The 2nd Heisman in 5 years doesn't hurt either.

A BUCKNELL fan (Lewisburg PA? Where TF is that?) calling anyone but itself a DIRTBAG is HILARIOUS
Go back to CHILLISQUAQUE - the nearest city to Bucknell!

Nuss is going to go off next year with our young but very capable receiving core

Don't forget we have scads of talent return on the line next year. And don't forget playmakers like Nuss and RB Trey Holly as well as Mason Taylor, Anderson and Nicholas receiving.
The cubbard's not bare, sir.

Tell Nebraska that during their 3 national championship teams from 94-97.

LSU football would be "close" if the exact same offense were coming back next season. It isn't. And it is absurd and unrealistic to expect next year's team to perform anywhere close to this level. So it is entirely possible (maybe likely) that LSU has a significantly better defense next season...and a worse overall record because the offense will now be in a position where it has to replace multiple key performers.
The more likely scenario is LSU takes a small step back next season with hopes of loading up for a potential championship run in 2025
I agree with this. I expect a much more balanced team next year but about the same 9-3 record. Detractors will be saying, "You can't spell 'LSU coach Brian Kelly' without three Ls."
Then 2025 will compete for the natty.

Did you forget JD was playing on a really bad ankle? The reason Nuss came in is because JD finally couldn't play on it anymore. Had JD been 100% the score would have been razor thin. Sorry Nuss is not going to be as good as JD. Our run game will have to be ramped up with Nuss as QB. We still can make the 12 team playoff with Nuss.

Which is why he shouldn't have been playing at all. That said it didn't limit him at all until close to the half. He ran several times.

Doubtful

You have no idea what he will or won't be.

Better hope a new Def coord is in place. With House and downgrade of the offense, we may be lucky to sniff top 25.
Its imperative as ever that Kelly needs to fire House and bring in a top notch DC

Holy sunshine pumping. You are in for a rude awakening
Are you having "Flashbacks" to Nuss vs Georgia in the SEC Championship.
Just think, Nuss has had another year working with the first team, he will have all off season working with the new receivers, and running backs. Remember the screen pass to Jackson that he took for about 70 yds and a TD.
I expect to see that in a game.
