100th or so in Total Defense. Not as close as you think.

Didnt BK say we were one year away this year? He knew who the QB would be in 2024 and said we would be able to compete for a championship. I think we are going to be in good shape next year, if we can get the Defense sorted out.

Yes, I agree. I just hope the one year away thing isn’t like the sign that says “free beer tomorrow”

Very dramatic. You can go along way with one of if not the best oline in football. I'd pump the brakes on any doom talk. And if I know one thing about this team in 2024 its that the defense will be better

I don’t see any indication the defense will improve. The offense will take a step back.

Jesus, Mary & Joseph, you never cease to disappoint when it comes to your unceasing ability to always find a way to exponentially increase the proof that: 1) you don’t know jack shiit about the game of football; and 2) you’re dumb-arse of biblical proportions!

Offensive lines are the backbone of almost every championship team! Show me the D-1 champion in the last twenty that won a title with a shitty OL.

Your post is too ignorant to reply any further!

Yea LSU football is only about an hour and half from my house when they play at home. So I’d say pretty close

That’s not to say we should expect that as a norm, but I think we’ve proven it’s possible.

We have also proven it is possible to have the worst defense in college football twice over four years. Which, when you think where the program was 10 years ago, is also crazy.

And dont take this to mean I am white knighting for Miles or Orgeron, but the turnaround in the two units is indeed shocking.

It's funny how you got on your soapbox to sky scream, but you also can't read or something.

As PFF says, you want your OL to creep back to average. I never said you could win with a shitty OL, but you don't need a super duper elite OL to win a title. We literally won 2 here without having an elite OL.

Our offense next year is a Les Miles dream. OL and RBs. I hope that Nuss can take the biggest leap in NCAA history, but that's way too much on him, especially with what we're losing at WR. Then you add in our defensive issues. Even if we improve the D, it's not going to become a good defense in 1 offseason. We can go from terrible to kind of bad or maybe, if we find a rabbit's foot, average.

But you pair an average D with a RB/OL based offense? That's just not going to compete on an elite level in modern football. And that looks to be our realistic best case scenario.

Trying to pump up expectations to unrealistic levels is just a recipe for melts next year. All signs point to taking a step back, possibly a big step back. We weren't that good this year and were held together by one of the best QBs in NCAA history and one of the best WR duos in NCAA history. We lose all 3 of them this offseason. While it wasn't as bad as 2022, JD was the major part in creating lanes for our RBs this year in the running game. We lose that. Our whole offense is going to have to completely adjust and reconfigure itself to a non-running QB.

If we build the foundation for that reconfiguration on offense, develop some of our unproven WR talent, start the defensive improvement, the and, most importantly, get some important players who can leave to return (Campbell, Nuss, a theoretically developed WR like Hilton/Sampson/etc), 2025 could be our year.

We're going to take a step back next year, potentially a big step back if some of our defensive guys leave. We have way too much to fix on D and a huge adjustment on offense philosophically to implement (while taking a step back in modernity/efficiency). It's severely unfair to the team/kids to try to spin 2024 into some potentially elite year.

If everything goes right, we could be back for 2025.

You know I can buy that the offense will still be productive and wont take a huge step back. It’s optimistic but within the realm of possibilities but what is the plan to fix the defense? We aren’t ever realistically sniffing a championship until that is addressed.

You need a really good QB and playmakers.

You mean like Nuss vs Georgia in 22. If we had a great defense, we would have won that game.

I don't believe offense will be the problem. If we could land Nolen and a couple of A&M dbs we will have a chance to win it all next season.

I don’t think you realize how far off we are from the elite teams. I also don’t think you realize how bad our defense is. We’re basically a 2 or 3 man team. No one can cover Nabers and Thomas. Daniels is a cheat code. They’re all three gone next year.

They won't pass for 4k but they'll get 3k and absolutely gash people with the running game.

You think 1k less passing yards is a small step back? We’ll be missing Daniels rushing yards and scrambling ability as well. He bailed us out all season.

Daniels carried this Team. Minus an exceptional DUAL THREAT QB it's mediocrity in today's game.

The threat of passing opens the run game; and the threat of a excellent running QB taking off opens the passing game. This is fb 101 and they know it.

Nuss will actually be able to throw the ball though, and hopefully he can slong it accurately like Jayden did.

Can he lead the team in rushing as well?

Nuss has some huge shoes to fill.
