I see where we could win out and the SECC and not get in with 2 losses over 1 loss Georgia or Tenn. Especially If OSU/Mich and TCU and Oregon all 3 continue undefeated as well.

If we win out we will be in the playoff. End of story.
But really these things usually play themselves out… TCU and Oregon most likely stumble imo.

All LSU can do is control what LSU does on the field. If the playoffs are not aligned with LSU this season then it is what it is. Believe me, LSU is going to be a playoff player in seasons going forward with even better scenarios in place.

That's a figment of your imagination. Not real.

I wonder how much that INT on the goal line at the end of the UT game will matter. If that's a TD 40-20 looks a bit more defensible than 40-13. I think we're in regardless, but if USC and TCU both run the table and Ohio state vs Michigan is close...that's a lot of teams to jump

It's more likely that LSU and Georgia both get in if we beat them in Atlanta. The only chance Tenn has is if we lose in Atlanta. They won't jump us even with the head to head since they won't even win their division and we would be SEC Champs.

It will get ugly if everybody keeps winning. There are a lot of pros and cons for most of the teams.

It's really not.

There's no way they leave the SEC Champ out with two losses. The FSU loss was the first week of the season, which they would take into consideration. We would have then beat UGA for the championship who beat UT.

Now, where I will say chaos is involved for the SEC is if Bama beats Ole Miss, and we lose to either AR or aTm, but still beat UGA in the SECCG.

It would suck to have your champ sitting at home with 3 losses. UGA likely still gets in and if OSU/UM and TCU are still undefeated, then it would be really interesting to see if they gave the last spot to UT or OR.

Absolutely the scenario is real. We are not jumping an 11-1 Tennessee.

We at minimum need TCU to lose.

I think it is a very real scenario that LSU ends up 5th. They do not control their destiny with the playoffs.

I don’t like to think about these things, because it’s still far away. Not even worth it at this point. Still a challenge to win any two SEC roads games. I don’t care who it is against. Both games will be their Super Bowls.

I can’t see a 2 loss SEC champ that beat an undefeated defending national champ being left out of the playoffs. Not when so many other teams have 1 loss.

The late stretch of destroying the #7 undefeated Ole Miss, then Bama who was off a BYE (Saban hasn’t lost 2 games this early since like 2010), and then beating everybody’s #1 team is too much to deny. Factor in first loss was due to a blocked xp against a team that had a warm up game. Losses are never ideal, but first game would be the best.

People say they haven’t let a 2 loss team in before, but how many beat the universal #1 for the SEC championship.

Again, I just hate to talk about this so early, because it could end up looking silly. That resume would be too strong to ignore though.

Paul F-bomb says the SEC champ is in. Not that I always agree with Pawwwl, but this time he's correct.

This is simply not true, there's scenarios that play out where we can be left out with 2 losses. I know we all want to ignore the fact we have 2 losses, but it's still 2 losses and thats the biggest black eye against us even if we win the SECCG we may have the "best" wins of anyone but also the most losses. It will all be left in the hands of the committee and we wont be a shoe in.

The scariest precedent out there for us was what they did in 2016

Penn State BEAT Ohio State and won the Big 10 championship but they took a 1 loss OSU over 2-loss PSU

And we don't even have the luxury that we beat Tennessee

I agree with the original post. LSU wins out but has two losses.
Other contenders:
Unbeaten Ohio State or Michigan (with the other being a one-loss team)
One-Loss Georgia (almost guaranteed regardless)
One-Loss Tennessee (higher CFP ranking throughout)
Unbeaten TCU (gotta get past Texas and Baylor but capable)
Oregon (one big loss on opening day but rolling)
--
Ole Miss just has a single loss but technically still in the mix.
Clemson, one bad loss to Notre Dame.
USC and UCLA, One-loss teams as of today.
--
Committee will be charged to pick the 4 best teams, not the 4 highest ranked teams. Sure LSU gets one of those spots with 2 losses? If LSU knocks off Georgia I guarantee it won't be a blowout.

No way the committee takes a team that doesn't participate in the SEC champ game over the team that wins it. You can get in WITH the SEC champ if you are a 1 loss non participant in ATL but you're not getting in over them. I don't care how badly they beat you.
