thought Teheuma was best suited as OG, didn't think he'd be athletic enough for OT

Why doesn't anyone have faith in Malone?

Because he looked like a turnstile in pass protection when filling in at LT last season and was only marginally better at run blocking. I was really underwhelmed seeing he was supposedly the best backup at that time. Hope he has greatly improved, starter or not.

This. Then again, he's a year older and has had more time with Grimes.

I was wondering the same thing about Malone.

Why can't he start at left tackle?

I went back and watched the Arkansas game...he came in right before half-time for Alexander, and played the rest of the game.

The guy that said he was a "turnstile"....has no clue what he is talking about.

He can play tackle for us.

I agree. Malone looked better than Teuhema did at Tackle in the spring game

I could see Pocic making Ryan Kelly money...

I could also see him going to an established team who values versatility, possibly the patriots?

Most people don't actually watch the games. They see a couple bad plays and exaggerate the overall results.

Well to be fair bad plays are an indication of poor results.

The only concern I have is about the zone-blocking scheme Grimes brought that has apparently baffled our lineman in the past couple years.

Seems like at least a couple times a game, some guys blow uncontested while a lineman stands there looking around.

Whether that's on Harris or the linemen, idk. I know some linemen do the checks themselves, and some QB's do it

This happens with every o line for every team in every game. No o line is perfect therefore there will be plays where assignments are blown in every game.

He came in for Hawkins, not Alexander. I went back and watched the first half, Malone held his own, I must have been thinking of other spot play by him in 2014/2015. Then again, I was so PO'd by that first half by LSU in all phases of the game I wanted to wipe it from my memory. Then again, the updated 2016 roster bio indicates he could push to be a starter at OG, not LT, so he likely has improved a lot to take the LT spot. Whomever starts there needs to be better than Hawkins last year. Good for KJ.

Every player has bad plays. Even the best players. So a couple bad plays out of 60-70 snaps doesn't mean shite.

Teuhema is not starting because of injury. Malone is the #1 as of today!

This, based off Spring game I'd much rather have Malone at LT than Teuhema.

Correct. Good to see a few on here have decent memories.

Most have poor/selective pumper memory based on what they hope or want to happen, nothing that is based on what has actually happened on the field.

Malone and Boutte didn't look like SEC caliber OL's in their previous playing experiences. Maybe they will this season. Maybe they wont. 50/50 shot with them and all the other OL reserves that are products of JG and his process........

you don't see much on TV except the result. as far as live, many people are drunk and the play is over when there brain catches up.

unless you are live and focusing in on a player you can't tell much unless he's the tackle and the DE keeps sacking the QB.

mostly, people on here just take what someone says and reinforce it, much like GOSSIP. and it seems to become "engraved in stone". I can give dozens of examples but one mistake and it lasts forever in some fans' memory.

I may be in the minority, but I just don't see Maea at LT...
