He hasn't coached a game yet. All the money we've spent on football is only good for next year. We'll need to spend another $25 million plus for 2027's roster.

Will let CMM finish season. Potential targets include Bruce Pearl, Will Wade, and Chris Beard.
If you're gonna try to wrestle Bruce Pearl out of retirement, then add Tony Bennett to the list.

King Dumb Arse (Alleva) coulda-woulda-shoulda hired TB way back when he was still an "Up and Coming" young coach at Washington State, but he fricked it up twice and spewed out Johnson and then Jones. (Nunez then found Wade at VCU, not Alleva)

Basketball vs Baseball? Not even close. Baseball is mostly like watching paint dry. Spend the $$$ and get LSU Basketball to where it should be. The fans and excitement will return with wins.

What makes you think LSU hasn't been spending money on men's basketball?

Shertz has a D1 record of 60-38 and 0 Division 1 tournament appearances. That is what I’m talking about when I say someone who is already there and not an up and comer. I’m pretty sure you can find a coach with better division 1 accomplishments. Shertz did awesome in division 2 now that he is in division 1 he seems to have been average up until this point. I’ll give him this he has St Louis looking good so far at least, better than what we currently have. I just think we have the resources to do more than what people give us credit for. But at this point I think you could hire just about anybody and do better than what we currently are dealing with. So truthfully if we just fire MM and hire somebody else I’ll be thrilled.

I know for a fact he will be offered the job. Does not mean he will take it but it's his if he wants it.

People are dumb

These are the same people who are LSU football diehards, but can’t sit at the game the entire time. Or give up after one loss.

Most just like Ron”be seen”, take their social media photos, and don’t even bother to watch the rest of the game on tv

And I'm saying that's not really the norm in CBB unless you have more of an established "brand". Ask Kentucky, they pushed Cal and were sure they were going to hire every big name under the sun because of their program prestige and money...they ended up settling for BYU's HC, largely because he was an alum. The UK fans are, at best, lukewarm on him.

Last year Indiana hired WVU's coach. Of course, Indiana is a prestigious brand. Maryland hired A&M's coach. Texas hired Xavier's HC. That was pretty much the list. The "shine" on Miller had faded and Williams basically plateaued at A&M. Maryland paid nearly $5M for Williams this year...and they suck. Like worse than McMahon at LSU level suck this year.

But I just wonder why a coach in his first year of a 6-year $17m contract at a school on the verge of making the NCAA tourney would leave to return to LSU. I think we’d have to make him a big arse offer he couldn’t refuse, and not sure LSU is prepared to do that for MBB

Matt McMahon is making more money at LSU this year than Will Wade is making at NC State, at least before incentives. I believe for this year MM is making around $400k more in base salary than Wade. I'm guessing Wade has more in possible incentives than McMahon, though.

I'm not saying that'll get him to leave and come here. Just saying it's not like he's making so much more at NC State that he wouldn't even listen to LSU.

All for redistribution of the wealth from teams that make money to teams that don’t
I'm a staunch free market capitalist.

But pure free market principles don't really work in a sports league, where you need close competitive games for the league to thrive.

If not, the "haves" will buy all the players and the gap between teams will grow. That's suicide for a sports league, which is built on competitive teams having close, dramatic, meaningful games to attract a large audience.

That's why there are (anti-free market) salary caps in pro sports.

He would want some NIL and facility guarantees but apparently that won’t be an issue.

What “facilities” could we upgrade? The PMAC is a dead issue and the new arena is bogged down.

I’m not sure what we could offer other than salary and NIL. NC State would sure counter.

There was already contact made between some boosters and Will Wade rep weeks ago in NC. Word coming back from the meeting was that Wade is not happy at NCST and would definitely listen to an offer from LSU. He and his wife both loved it here and supposedly NCST has not kept up their end of the bargain with respect to what they promised Wade when they hired him. If they guarantee him $12.5 mil in NIL money that would be huge. But he will definitely be offered the job and I know a couple of boosters that say it's a done deal. We will see. Also, the word is they will wait till end of the season to fire Mcmahon. That would lead me to believe they already have their guy.

I get what you are saying but I think you are understating our brand and exposure. We are a sleeping giant with the right coach and if you are willing to spend the money I think you can do a little better than St Louis’s coach, but hey dude might be a hidden Gem I just think we should really go all in and try and find an almost can’t miss type of young talented D1 coach. But as mentioned anything is better than what we currently have. If the boosters aren’t excited they aren’t giving money to get the players it will take to win, bring some excitement back and at least for the first year or 2 the money will be there to go do something in recruiting. Looking forward to whoever they decide to coach the team. Tired of watching this shite show.
