What other schools make the tournament on a "regular basis" and also have a football powerhouse like LSU?

I don't see where being a football powerhouse has anything to do with it, but Michigan St, Ohio St, Wisconsin, West Virginia... I am sure you don't consider those schools a "powerhouse".. but they do have respectable programs.. Hell, Notre Dame, which is known for football... Has a decent basketball program.

Uh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this LSU BB team is 3-19 it's last 22 SEC games

the football team is 19-3 it's last 22...not even close to same deal

The melt down is seeing how far off we are from being a top ranked BB program..

We don't have enough players..

TJ is in year 4! it's his baby

Just pointing out that usually you see schools put all of their resources into one program and that program is the successful one. Not saying both can't be good at times, but that usually isn't on a regular basis.

If you look at those places, they struck gold with a head coach.

And one of those three (OSU) already has somewhat of a tradition of winning in basketball. Not quite at the level of UK, UNC, or Duke, but they were one of those programs where the expectations would call for a legitimate coach.

I understand that, what I don't understand is why the meltdown today after losing to the #1 team in the country. There hasn't been this many posts combined in the last 2 weeks about basketball.

3 wins in 22 SEC games

Guess $1,000,000 + year just does not buy what it used to, especially in the coaching arena

That's a good point. It must be just because there hasn't been this many people combined in the last 2 weeks that watched LSU basketball. I still think all the criticism is valid.

It's valid to a certain extent. This team is way better than they have been the last 2 seasons but they've had a really difficult schedule the last 2 weeks. I think most people should hold off on the meltdown until the season is complete because I believe the team is going to win several more games.

We have been to the postseason just once since the 2006 final four run and we have been to the NCAA tourney just 5 times since 1993.

Then why is the expectation that a new coach will have them there multiple times in four years?

If we shite can Johnson, how long do we give the new coach? Three seasons, and if he doesn't make the tournament twice, HE'S out?

Then what? Who the frick would even WANT to come here.

Somebody wanting money which would mean LSU opening the checkbook. That isn't going to happen.

I don't necessarily think that is what people are saying.

In this generation of sports, coaches (for the most part) are given a 4-5 year window to turn around a program. In some cases it has been less time than that. As a person who has liked TJ, I am not in control of what happens after that 4-5 year window is over (assuming that is the case here with him.)

I am definitely wanting this season to play out and hope that things get better. If Trent succeeds, he is sticking around, if not, then it is a matter of time something happens whether we may agree with it or not.

Do you think that second half was acceptable Tricks.

Hell, I saw a Georgia team that IMHO is not as good as us compete and grind against Kentucky in the second half the other night. I saw that for most of the first half from us today but not at all in the second half.

And I've either watched or listened to every game this year. This and the Bama game were not acceptable to me.

There have some games where I've been proud or I could rationalize. Today's second half was not one of them, and I'll give you how good Kentucky is.

I think the vast majority of the posters here believe that we should be in the tournament every season.

History doesn't bear that out, though.

I agree, but I also said before the season that I would support a change if the team didn't finish .500(ish) in conference, and win 18-19 games overall, then I would support a change.

FWIW, I STILL believe this team will finish 9-7 in the SEC, and if we can do that, and win two games in the SEC tournament, we'll end up in the NCAAs.

I don't like losing anymore than the rest of you but I'm not sure what you're unable to rationalize about Kentucky being the #1 team in the country. Yeah, Georgia hung around with them longer than LSU did but anything can happen on any given day. Kentucky smokes a lot of teams if you haven't noticed.

This isn't the first game where this team looked poor, nor was it the first time TJ stood around with a stupid look on his face while the team falls apart. Until Alleva cans the chump, we will continue to be see people happy any time we don't get slaughtered because "we're getting better. Ignore all the losses, they are illusions. Success exists only in matching sweatervests." You gonna sell me some pudding in that sweatervest, Trent?

From reading your posts about football and now basketball, I have come to the conclusion that you're definitely one of those people who can't stand to see people have a negative reaction to anything at anytime period. You're saying that there is a meltdown? Where? For us to have a meltdown would mean that we actually care about it.

But let me just say to you for a second off the topic. Quit worrying about what we say or feel after an LSU loss. We don't need you to run around being the superhero to make sure we are nurtured from being pissed off/upset/dissapointed in LSU to being happy go lucky about it. Because believe it or not, not everybody in this world walks around completely aloof with a perma-grin on their face.

You must not have read back far enough because as you can see I have been here since 2003 and I was one of the first ones leading the charge for Brady to be fired.

I've also had criticism of Miles as well and was actually interviewed on WAFB last season saying so. I'm not positive all the time as you seem to think. I'm just realistic. For somebody with a name like "RealityTiger" you seem to be in a fantasy world. Looking at a post from you yesterday you actually thought we had a chance to win yesterday which maybe explains your disappointment now.

I'm just disgusted with out fanbase sometimes. LSU fans are NEVER f'n happy. Ever. You have people on here wanting every single coach we have fired. People want Miles fired. People want TJ fired. People want PM fired. It's just frustrating to read at times.

Asking somebody to "quit worrying about what we say or feel after an LSU loss" is pretty retarded too. This is a discussion board after all. People aren't always going to agree on everything and the whole point of this board is to talk about it.

Because the team has shown signs of improvement thus has built up some hope and interest..

A big loss at home to the #1 team shows the reality of where we are...

It must be like how Ole Miss fans feel about their football program... Just can't ever get to the next level
