I would have favored that a week ago. Now I would absolutely as a matter of principle refuse to play ULL . Until they publicly apologize and kiss the ring . And sacrifice their oldest child. And agree to come onto the court with the Benny Hill theme song.

Houston is better than ULL at everything.

We actually beat them the last time we played them in football, basketball, and we also eliminated them in baseball just a few years ago.

But yes, as an athletic program, they are.

That's an unreasonable list of demands. We shouldn't let them off that easy.

Yeah, it'll be awhile before we play again.

Who? I'm looking at the past two schedules and don't see a home game with a SEC team. Last decent OOC home game I am seeing is Houston in 2013.

But at the same time, Marlin was also looking at it from a longer time frame. Since 1944, the two schools have maybe played 3 times(?) up until last night, which was a forced game by the NIT.

Who gives a shite? Is there some quota we have to meet in terms of times we play ULL?

Very stupid of him to motivate the LSU coach, players and fans like he did, right?

He did it more to motivate HIS team and fanbase after the disappointment of not making the NCAAT. I understand why he did it, and it worked. ULL was fired up to play. They had a nice crowd in the PMAC. ULL played hard and the game was tight at the very end. Firing up LSU was a byproduct, but ULL would have had no chance if they came in flat.

And also to totally ruin any possible chance of playing LSU.

Not really. LSU was never going to Lafayette to play ULL regardless of the coach's comments. It doesn't make much since for LSU to go there because the reward of a potential win isn't that significant. If anything, last night's atmosphere may encourage LSU to schedule a home game vs. ULL (assuming ULL doesn't want a home and home series). Hell, last night's relatively meaningless game generated more excitement and good will from LSU fans towards the basketball program than ANY game this season.

Marlin stood up for his program and fired up his fanbase before the game. Wade did so after. ULL lost, but it was a net "win" for both teams because each gained more interest from their fans than they had before the game.

That's women's basketball. I believe they also hosted Mississippi State a few years back as well.

Was he right on saying we don’t play often? Yes, because we haven’t played since 2008
I played for LSU from 2006-2010 in tennis

Around 08/09, the athletic dept told us to stop scheduling ULL in all sports, and to simply finish out what was already previously scheduled.

I have no idea what happened but their was something that pissed off the LSU AD.

I sort of get why he was talking shite. In his mind, he felt like the probably deserved to be in the NCAA instead of the NIT. Since that didn't happen, in his mind, he felt like his team deserved to host a game. Now, none of that was a reason to say the shite he said about LSU not being up for the game, or that they had a better arena. Which, in my opinion they do. None of that was necessary. He could have told his team stuff like that in practice or meetings to get them pumped. All he did was piss Wade and his team off. In the process, made a game that was really good and entertaining into a side show of animosities that overshadow a good basketball game.

You realize he could have said all of what he said in private to motivate his own team and not have the "byproduct" of firing up ours? What he did, publicly, was stupid. If he had any advantage mentally or motivation wise, he took it away by doing what he did.

If you are going to talk the talk like that, you damn sure better be able to walk the walk.

He open himself and his team up for everything that took place during the game.

They would have tried to name their gym after him if he would have coached his team to a win last night.
