Fehoko and Alexander at DT
Lawrence and next best DE

Phillips and White at LB

5 DBs was with the next best DB playing the Nickle.

If we still had Chaisson, no way. With him missing it might be worth trying.

Yeah
I feel like it's the way to go. The pass rushing linebacker never gets pressure, and I feel like they still need time to develop and learn.

Need to switch to a 4-3, maybe it'll help out the run defense.

Getting more beef along the D-line would probably help defend the run. Would also eff up UGA game prep, but not possible to implement at this point.

great idea... so who are we replacing aranda with? you do know he's a 3-4 guy right? you don't just switch to a 4-3 mid-season, coverages would have to be adjusted, run fits changed, blitzes altered... literally the whole defensive philosophy would have to change....at best you'd need an off-season to do that, at worst you'll need a new dc

We apparently don’t have enough to play 3 right. And we’re gonna play 4? We suck because of no depth.

Where’s the pass rush coming from?

We were week against the run because we were without 2/3 best linebackers

Also White missed a whole drive

I thought we were multiple on defense?

The way to fix it is it play the players you have.

90. 91, 97, 99, 92, 72, 93, and the freshman. And they need to sub within drives. We do this bullshite of playing the same DL and LB the entire drive whether it’s 3 plays or 11.

I see someone mentioned White being out for a drive. That’s what I mean. Because it was “Queen’s” drive we just leave our best football player on the sideline by choice. That was ridiculous.

I really agree with all of this. Throw in Thomas and Cotton for a few plays. Hell throw in Shelvin and Livingston on goal line, lets see what we got.

On top of that, I think Aranda's also likes using packages with only 2 D-Linemen (e.g: Peso). I don't think we'll see the LSU Express very often with Aranda.

You can’t just install a new scheme halfway through the season

So the $2.5 mil dc can't come up with something? I know under Chavis we we're a base 4-3. But he didn't always just run that.

There’s a lot more too it than just switching to 4-3. IMO playing without a nose is today’s game is just dumb. There’s a reason you see Saban base out of odd fronts. More versatile. Blitzes are more easily disguised. LSU just needs to tackle better. Florida wasn’t running through these huge holes. Guys were there but just didn’t make the plays needed. Outside of not having a pitch player on a few of those options LSU was fine schematically. Some of the young linebackers didn’t fit the right gaps at times but to abandon the odf front would be a mistake.

It sounds good in a persons head but that won’t work. So the 3 starting lineman can’t get pressure so you bring in a reserve NT who gets gassed after 5 plays in a row. Then you take out a linebacker that has some speed. Then you ask those 6 men to do what the same men plus a 7th player couldn’t.

Our defense hasnt given up more than 21 points in any game this season. No one should be complaining about the defense. We need to score more points.

We don’t have depth for a rotation with 3, and you want to add another one? Want to take out Divinity and play Farrell? You want to count on Ed Alexander as a starter when he can only give you about 10 plays a game? And we don’t have explosive enough pass rushing DEs for a 4-3. You’d be taking a weakness and make it an even bigger one. I’d rather run a 2-5.

He basically implements a 4-3 when Chassion is here anyways. It's no different. Aranda is damn sure smart enough to make this happen. The players would be the ones adjusting. He could simplify it where it's not very hard for them to transition. It's just like adding a bigger LB that plays the LOS just like Chassion did. I don't see why it would be all that hard??

But y'all are correct. We just don't have the personell to do it. It's sad that we have players that just don't want to train the way they need to. All the talent in the world and prefer to be lazy. It's amazing. Our NTs could be unstoppable forces if they would just try. It would totally flip this defense. I would give Livingston his shot. Never know his effort and determination might show up on game day. Shelvin is such a disappointment. I really thought that kid would change when he got to college.

Looks like LSU might have to go get a JUCO NT and let him go. We need some real fighters on that DL. We need some rotational guys. Fehoko had a hell of a game in this one though. It looked like he was the only guy giving any real effort. So many times I see our rushers lock arms with the OLman and not move an inch.

I just think they need some rotational guys but we obviously don't have any. Need Stevens and Monroe back in the secondary. I have no idea where Stevens went.

THIS X 1000!!!

You're correct sir. Baskerville hurt us in this game also. He wasn't even close to as aggressive and fast as Phillips. I wouldn't expect him to be either. Yes he made tackles but the back had already gained a head of steam by the time he got to him. White and Phillips are a badass combo. I think we win this game easily with him in.

But like you said we had DBs coming in to help and just throw a shoulder at them. You have to wrap up and commit. It's a shame that we have any player tackling the way I see them tackle. Blocking was the same issue. Just didn't have the effort you must have to win a game like this. I'm sure they will fix it but you must play the same in every game not every other game.
