Agreed, but I almost think this could backfire on them. It’s going to be a talking point for the weekend and they’ll have it in their head. If we beat them game one, the spell is broken.
Winning all those games weeks ago doesn’t count for anything now and it could prove to be a distraction.

This. Coastal Carolina won it all in 2016 and been a consistent tournament team. They’re a good program.

Yep. We've gotten knocked out of a super regional at home by a few smaller conference teams. This isn't football.

This thread wasn't to say that Coastal played a tougher schedule than LSU. It was to address all the people posting that Coastal's win streak is due to their schedule
I missed that in the title and the body of your post. I assumed it was simply suggesting people were discounting Coastal. I know some are, and they shouldn't. The 26-game winning streak includes a clean regional, superregional, and CWS bracket, which is always impressive.
The early part of the streak was against weak teams, but until they lose, it is still impressive.
Here is the list of the streak with RPIs. Note how strong the back end of that streak is.

Coastal beat Auburn at home twice to take the SR.
All you need to know they are legit.
Stony Brook beat us twice at home to take a Super Regional.
Houston beat us twice at home to take a regional. And that was a 2014 LSU Team that is regarded as was one of our best squads ever.

So they played less than 65% of the Q1 games than LSU.
Played less that 75% of the Q1/Q2 games as LSU.
So a large portion of their games were Q3.
SEC had 15 of 16 teams in Q1 and all 16 in Q1/Q2.
Sun Belt had 3/14 in Q1, 6/14 in Q2, and 5/14 in Q3.
9 SEC teams in top 5% of RPI, 11 SEC teams top 10% of RPI, and 13 in top 15%.
2 Sub Belt teams in top 10% of RPI.
Their schedule was significantly weaker, and it is easier to beat a bunch of middling teams consistently than beating top teams for half your games and then a bunch of scrubs for half your games.
In the end, both teams are very good and CCU could definitely beat LSU. The numbers you posted don't hurt LSU at all and in fact, make LSU look better.

This is their second time in the CWS, but they have been in the tournament 20 of the last 25 years and made it to a Super 4 times. For reference, LSU has been in the tournament 21 times in that period,d though they have continued one more frequently. Coastal is a rock-solid program.

When did those Q1 wins come? Not all Q1 wins are the same. For instance, a Q1 win in a mid-week game isn't nearly as impressive as a Q1 win in a conference series. Just looking at their schedule, they played NC State, Wake Forest (x2) and Clemson (x2) in mid-week games.
None of that fricking matters, dumbasses.
Coastal has destroyed the competition in the NCAA Tournament for an 8-0 record, and they’ve made it all the way to the College Word Series Finals. If you do that, then you’re legitimate.
It’s completely irrelevant what their regular season was like.

Always respect your opponent but
Coastal's Weekend series opponents don't exactly light the world on fire:
Ga Southern
Texas State
Troy
Arkansas State
Ga State
Marshall
JMU
App St
ULM
ODU

But you are discounting competition. You can literally go onto their website and sort by sun belt stats. In 30 games in the sun belt, their pitching was a 2.64ERA and they averaged 8.13 runs per game
Against all other teams (including half are teams like Fairfield, UNCW, Campbell, etc), they are averaging 7.01 runs per game and ERA of 3.66
That means they are scoring one run less and giving up one more run per game. And I bet if I took just P4 conference teams, shite would probably get wild. So yea, as a fan, me thinking they’re overrated because of SOS is warranted

I’ll give them credit for upsetting Auburn but they were a different team late in the year compared to when we played them. Louisville wouldn’t be a top 10-12 team in the sec. Oregon State and UCLA are the same average programs that play weak competition

All of that goes out the window in Omaha

I’m starting to think some of you are undercover CC fans on a campaign of garnered respect.
Man who gives a shite? I’m ready to see LSU spank that arse.

I get it. CC is damn good. I think we win for two main reasons: 1. Our pitching is peaking right now. Anderson, Eyanson, Evans, Shores and now Cowan are all super confident. This hasn't been the case ALL season. 2. With the exception of Braswell (and Dickinson to a lesser degree) our hitters are also peaking. Just seems like with our pitchers dealing and hitters hitting we'll be tough to beat.
Of course, baseball is crazy and anything can happen. But I'd bet on us.

Coastal ain't beat nobody worth a shite in a 3 game series.
________
They haven't lost a game in their entire post-season. Any team that makes it to the final series of the CWS can win it.

This is true! UCF FB had a good streak going & I would say they were legit as well. However this is how I see it. Bear is coming out of a slump at the perfect time, like JB9 getting his groove on after that big hit. Timing is perfect for LSU BB they're as hot as ever at the perfect moment. Pitching/check, fielding/check, hitting/check.

They made it to the finals and beat some good teams along the way. Anyone who think this isn’t going to be a battle is one of the mouth breathers who each year says lsu football will beat the opening opponent by three TDs because they have no ability to think different. They aren’t based in reality and let their own meathead reality shape everything they say.

Anyone who doesn't realize Coastal Carolina is actually a very good team is going to be in for a rude awakening. This is going to be a very tough series. They are very disciplined and well coached.

They got run ruled and lost twice to the College of Charleston. Also got run ruled by Wake Forest and lost to Bama 9-2.
If lsu plays their brand and coastal plays theirs, lsu will take their will and win both games by 3 plus runs. 6-2 / 8-3. If our pitchers are on and pitch deep they won't get more than the era of our guys. However we are used to the difficulty of pitching because of the grind every year. Their pitchers are just another weekend to us. Im not over looking Coastal but we are simply better. We have to play like it.
