It’s an off year after an incredible national title year. CJJ is the right coach for LSU. He nor any other coach is going to end up in Omaha every season. Get used to it. And this season is not over yet by the way.

2007 and 2011 missed the tourny, correct? so yes Mainieri had bad teams.

I don’t know how to do that bro. Just go back to around the time off season and beginning of the season and read the threads. Just trust me, it was said.

Yes 2007 but that was his first season. But I will discount that because it was his first season. Let's look further. For comparison, LSU is 31-12 through 33 games

Through 33 games:

2008 21-12 5-8 SEC they had lost to Stetson and SELA at the box in consecutive mid week games. Finished 39-16-1 18-11-1. Won the SEC tournament

2011 21-12 3-9 SEC this seems eerily similar 36-20 13-17 did not play in the SEC tournament or NCAA tournament

2018 20-13 6-6 ended 33-23 15-15 went to a regional

2020 team was going to be pretty bad and 2021 ended up 13-17 as one of the last teams in the tournament.

'20 would've had a pretty solid rotation (Henry, Marceaux, and Hill). And would've been good in the field. I think we make the field.

'21 made it to a super regional. That's top-16.

That team only had 3 SEC level bats, they would of struggled.

Isn't that reinforcing the point that people need to not jump off a bridge just yet?

Who said this was going to be the best team ever?

Right. No one. The thinking was that this team was going to pitch well but was taking a big step back at the plate. Defensively, it figured to be a little better just because we’d have a real second baseman and the SS would be an improvement over Thompson (Geez!).

I thought this team would challenge for Omaha but by no means would be a favorite for the National Title. As a fan, you can never account for things like team chemistry.
