I don't think I can take much more of this place.

You realize Jay had been to Omaha twice before within like 5 years at Arizona right? He nearly won it all there too.

I mean Mainieri recruited the majority of key players on last year’s team…

I'd say it was a pretty good blend though. Skenes/White/Cooper/Ack were all incredibly important.

Mainieri had been recruiting well, but LSU was not getting it done. Especially offensively.

No we had an amazingly talented team and the players who were not top end talent were 4th and 5th year guys.

Last year Jay Johnson inherited a tremendous upper class of Louisiana kids and Crews. Skenes a generational pitcher and we outbid Miss State with Lipsey money for his services for 1 year.

But Neal and Kling are unreal because perfect game says so.

Maybe recruiting Louisiana kids ain’t so bad after all. Regardless of what perfect game says.

Definitely Jays fault the last staff recruited them.

so what about Hurd, Ack, Herring and White? Without their performances in Omaha there is no title.

Kling committed to Mainieri and even decommitted when Jay got the job.

Jay was hired in 2022. He didn’t “inherit” last year’s team. He had already coached them for a year.

You’re lying to yourself if you think he’s not responsible for the improvement in most of those players. Beloso was ready to give up baseball. Jobert was a liability when he got here. Morgan, Dugas, JT, the list goes on.

but to keep losing like this is very concerning.

Losing like what? We lost 3 games by a combined 6 runs to the #1 team on the road.

Mike Martin was a great coach that coached for 40 years and never won one. You need a lot of luck along the way. Baseball is an incredibly cruel mistress.

You are wrong because you are a fricking retard that hasn’t paid any attention to the things Jay does.

Pitching...

Good pitching beats good hitting every time.

They're scoring runs. They just can't hold their opponents.

They win a fricking natty last season and his NOT Manieri

Wake Forest was number 1 early in the season and the favorite to win the CWS this year. They are 17-8 overall and 4-6 in ACC play (which is nowhere as hard as SEC), could be 4-7 after today.

lot of season left

lightning in a bottle? seriously?

this is his 9th season as a head coach for a power 5 team.
he's been to Omaha 3 times.
the CWS finals twice.

lightning in a bottle would be a guy that sucks complete monkey arse the entire rest of his career with one complete outlier getting to the promised land.
Jay has proven that he can get teams there on multiple occasions.
Jay has proven he can get to the title round on more than one occasion.
Jay has proven he CAN win when he gets there.

Jay is a damn good coach.
his record speaks for itself.

idk if we have much better options but we’re definitely a team that needs to grow and getting Florida and Arkansas in the first 3 weeks is going to lead to growing pains.

That’s the harsh reality our fans won’t except! This team is statistically at or below average in the SEC in nearly every category! If they have a winning record in the SEC I’d call it a success!

I know it’s still early but to keep losing like this is very concerning. Maybe he will be like Maneri where he wins a title early then never wins one again. But I hope I’m wrong.
