Agreed. Burleson is indeed a fine man who has serve his country well.

But he is human; no need to temp fate or assume he's not capable of a lapse in judgement. He has no business doing anything with an Alabama football game.

It is odd that Dick Burleson's site was taken down after the story since his domain doesn't expire until late may 2010.

Even though he took down his site, I did visit an archived portion of his site and he seems to have a heart on for Alabama even though his Alma Mater is Ga Tech.

He highlights quotes on his page in CRIMSON. I thought it had to do with the quote being attributed to the Bear, but this was also the case when he had a quote from Vince Dooley.

Another quote from Sam Long of BELLSOUTH is also highlighted in crimson.

This crimson infatuation would lead anyone to question his bias.

Or, he knows that bama fans will pay big bucks and he's good at marketing his product...remember he has a directed audience that pays.

Glad to see this is still being discussed. I'd love to say that I've gotten over it, but I haven't. Not in the sense that I'm expecting an overturn of the game, or replaying the final 6:00 minutes or anything stupid, etc. The game is over, LSU lost...the end.

What I haven't gotten over is the feeling that ONCE AGAIN the team for which I spend a large amount of money, time, love on has been screwed over either by plan or incidentally by the office that is put in place to ensure fairness to all conference participants. Twice this season the SEC has been forced to apologize about poor officiating...and in this case, in what was clearly the most controversial call in the biggest game in the SEC this season to date...not only do we not get the courtesy of an apology for the bad call, we don't even get the acknowledgment that it WAS a bad call! Instead, we basically get Rogers Redding telling us to go piss up a rope and that as far as he was concerned there was nothing controversial about the call! The same call EVERYONE outside of Tuscaloosa felt went the wrong way.

No...I'm not on the conspiracy badwagon, but it's clearly more than sour grapes that the same types of things seem to happen year in and year out. Thankfully we've had a cresendo of questionable calls that effected more than just LSU so that you have numerous on the record complaints by SEC Coaches. Clearly what is warranted is some sort of outside investigation be it by the NCAA or governmental agency.

Sitting back and accepting getting screwed by the SEC Office only ensures that the next time they screw you over you're less chafed. How about we quit letting it take place...?

And I think most reasonable sports fans would as well.

And here's the kicker...college football ALREADY understands and tries to aleviate regional bias when OOC teams matchup! There's a reason more often than not an away OOC team will bring with it a crew from their own conference. There's a reason when there is a bowl matchup the crew calling the game is from OUTSIDE of the two conferences paired up. Fear of regional bias. No one ever throws up their hands in outrage at the suggestion that this not take place because officials would never lean towards them home turf team! Why then is there nothing to the suggestion that MAYBE just MAYBE having the SEC Office located in Birmigham (from which SEC officiating is run) could be subject to the same honest level of regional bias as a crew from the PAC10 who would be denied the ability to call a bowl game between SC and Ohio St?

Ignorance is forgivable...willful ignorance is not.

Very few are whining, but you likely know that. this shouldn't be just an issue for LSU fans, or even fans of SEC football. This ought to be an issue for fans of ALL college football, because these issues can and do effect the integrity of the game we all suggest we love.

In the case of the Peterson poor call, had LSU gotten the rightful call they would have the OPPORTUNITY to mount a 70 yard drive and go up with little time left. No guarantees, but they would have had the opportunity to try and win the game...the opportunity they earned by virtue of their play in the first 55 minutes of the game and due to the outstanding individual play made by Peterson.

Assuming we expect the officiating crews to ensure fairness to the best of their ability, then we were all poorly served by their actions on Saturday.

Exactly--and we were served even more poorly in the days after by the guys they work for.

It's OK. You can still be a good fan and question the validity of your source of entertainment.

Welcome to reality, BTW.

Football = ENTERTAINMENT.

Was a good game, wasn't it?

I've been thinking about this. Actually, there may be a very reasonable answer for the sites suddenly getting taken down.

Both DickBurleson.com and the Nat'l Speaker site included email links enabling visitors to contact Burleson. As soon as those sites were pointed out, they may have been so inundated with SEC related emails that they exceeded alloted bandwidth/serverspace. Under that circumstance, the site would often be taken down automatically by the Server Host.

Having reviewed content archived on both sites prior to their disappearance, email inundation seems the most plausible explanation.

We just fricking might. And maybe you can put your big girl panties on take your head out of your arse so you could see how the SEC is favoring two certain teams week in and week out so that they get the matchup they want!

So remove the contact information.

Also, it takes about 5 minutes to append a web page adding a script so that Joe Public has to fill out a form to receive information instead of allowing email contact.

Well, I'm thinking the guy doesn't manage or set up his own web pages, so either the guy that does it for him it is too busy with his paying gig at UofA or the actual SEC to do it...

or he's waiting for his next Bama boosters check to clear so he can pay some UofA student to make these changes...
