So if all of this would’ve gone down in Mississippi with a judge and Goulding was able to get players to come back from the NFL and start at Ole Miss immediately, this board would be 100% for it and against Sankey, right?

Can anyone take out their purple glasses, and given an honest answer?

Every post would be about how much we support Ole Miss and Pete, right?

Brother… No one really cares.

all we care about is if these 5th year are eligible then we want some. If they are not eligible then it’s fine. We just don’t want to be put in a disadvantage against our opponents like we have been in the past

What are the objective facts? Taking the glasses off.

A United States court declared players from the class of 2022 eligible, given that these players could not have anticipated a 5 for 5 rule being passed over the summer.

Players enter transfer portal to play football under court ruling

Major power conferences threaten penalties against member institutions if they sign said players

How in the world will that stand in court?

I’m asking if a rival was going through the exact thing right now would be supporting them just like we are LSU?

Probably not, I’m a mental midget.

But I do think the facts are on the side of the players right now.

Dallas,
The major issue is Lane/LSU thought of this idea first, did all their due diligence and then beat everyone to the punch —- and every other school complaining is jealous and disingenuous.

EVERY other coach would’ve done this and their fan bases, alumni, boosters, and yes, school presidents, would’ve been Rah-rah-let’s-go

Honest answer is that Ole Miss, in the process of getting Chambliss a 6th or 7th year or whatever, because he claims he had a sore throat one year is already preposterous. And I don't see this as unrelated to the current attempts to see how far the rules can be bent.

Yes, it's all terrible. And I don't like any of it. But if Chambliss got another year due to an injunction or TRO or whatever by a Mississippi judge and nobody is up in arms about that, then exactly how upset should I be now?

NCAA has a track record of looking the other way for some teams like UNC, Kansas, Duke, etc for basketball. Duke can buy Zion a house, but crickets. Wade mentions "damn strong offer" and it's different. NCAA turned a blind eye to the Yahoo story a decade ago when Bama football was cheating... and Saban just sort of banned Luther Davis from campus and the story goes away. Saban bitches about TX A&M abusing NIL (and I agree), but the moment Jimbo points out the hypocrisy and says he knows where Saban buried some of the bodies, and the story and outrage goes away.

I don't like cheating and bending of rules, but it has always gone on. Doesn't make it okay, but why exactly should I be clutching my pearls now if some teams, like LSU, are pushing the rules in a more open, legal way than the bullshite that was happening in previous years?

Sucks for college athletics. But the NCAA itself has sucked and pissed me off for a long time, too. Fournette couldn't sell BUGA tshirts pre-NIL, but the NCAA had no issues with Tx A&M or Ohio State completely abusing NIL by forming booster collectives to straight up buy players and making them show up to a car wash once to supposedly earn it.

It's all shitty now, but it has also been shitty for a while.

Why the frick would an LSU board support a rival the same way as LSU? What’s the point of your question? Oh, man. You really got us. We now have to admit we’re biased towards LSU here on [checks notes] Tiger Droppings dot fricking com.
