The real question is what's going to happen when Dave Aranda eventually gets a huge job offer that he can't refuse and LSU lets him slip away?
Outside of Malevto, we've done pretty good with hiring DCs recently.
Yea I dont think Defensive staff turnover is as big of an issue as Offensive turnover at LSU. We need stability in QB recruiting and development.

Get out.

Maleveto was a disaster, steele was bad, Pelini was good, Chavis was solid, Aranda is on a different level.
Steele was fine, wasn't here long enough to be called "bad". Hes also done a pretty good job with AU.

Nice.
If Canada goes, it's 100% on corndog Eaux for hiring him in the first place. I get the feeling that Coach 0 is a "fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of head coach".

Well, it's been hit and miss. Kevin Steele was awful during his time here. Our secondary, with all it's talent, averaged at least one big busted coverage a game that season. And the run defense wasn't that great either. Dave Aranda is a special talent. LSU needs to pull out all the stops to keep him here long-term. I would love for him to be offered the HC job one day.

Good. Maybe Canada will be here for at least another season.

This model of hiring great coordinators and letting them do their job,and the HC being just a "manager" is a tenuous one.
yes, usually a HC was EITHER an OC or a DC but not both. all HC's are managers and actually very few of them can be both a HC and a coordinator and that's why they hire both. very few HC's call their own plays on O or D. the "model" you speak of is exactly what les miles was.

He made a bunch of statements to appeal to LSU fans and admin when he was campaigning, to make them feel he had learned from previous failures, and he is not following through with them. He was humble and likeable while campaigning, and his ego took off as soon as he got that 12 million dollar buyout. I sincerely hope his plans work.

The LSU athletic program (and university?) is in the hands of raving lunatics.

I'm a huge fan of Aranda, but there are some facts that should be considered. 2 years removed from Wisky and they currently have the #1 defense in the country without Aranda. Steele (bad at LSU) left here and did a very well at Auburn. The last 2 seasons LSU has ranked in the bottom half of CFB in turnovers (turnovers mean points, field position and make your offense better). Turnovers are the reason Miami did well this season, otherwise they have about 3-4 more losses.
None of that is a knock on Aranda. What LSU has done is change the recruiting emphasis at the LB and DL position and we have gotten better depth which has helped. If Steele was here now he would likely do very well because we have better players across positions. Over the years Chavis let our talent slip at LB and DL.

Well Les Miles was actually a coordinator previously, so no, not exactly the same thing Orgeron is.
Even though the HC that was previously a coordinator won't be coordinating himself, he has an idea of what he wants and is consistent in that vision. Sometimes that vision is sound, sometimes it isn't.
We've already seen that Orgeron's vision is not consistent. He started off saying he wanted a certain type of offense and ended up hiring someone with a different philosophy. If he had an idea that he wanted to run Kiffin's type of offense, he should've had a plan B, C, D, and E when Kiffin fell though. He instead hired Canada. That seems to suggest that he didn't have a real plan. These are the examples of program management that leave a lot of us in an uneasy state.
You can say what you want about Miles, but at least his vision for offense was stable. We didn't like the aesthetics but he got results.

Alleva is basically banking on O being our version of Dabo. God knows everyone and their mother made fun of Clemson when they hired Dabo after being the interim for part of the season. While we are at it, Dabo was about to get fired until Chad Morris rectified the offense and put Clemson on its way.

So answer the question then. Why did Orgeron hire him and make him one of the highest paid Asst Coaches in football? My agenda on here is to point out we have morons running our football program. But most people on here just refuse to see that. You will make excuse after excuse for Orgeron.
Eaux was going to hire Kiffin. Kiffin has stated many times that he was coming to LSU to coach with Eaux. Then Kiffin got an opportunity to be a head coach himself and took it.
Coach Eaux had stated he was going to have the best OC and DC's available and did just that. With some commits having serious doubts about their commitment to LSU since there was no OC. Eaux went out and got the best in the country last year. The only offensive Broyles Award candidate - Canada.
It pretty simple if you have any common sense at all and take a second to think about it.

Coach O is the head coach and manager of LSU football. Maybe he doesnt like what he sees with MC. Maybe he does. But at the end of the day, he is still the head coach and manager. If there is something he sees that doesnt fit into the grand scheme of things then he has the prerogative to make the necessary changes. I think that he has kept his word, mainly by making LSU football exciting to watch again.

Lmao. The offense under your boy is what got him fired. If your boy would have simply not been so stubborn and SO PREDICTABLE....he would still be here. His philosophy was we do what we do...not gonna disguise it...up to you to stop it. Unfortunately, good defenses had started doing just that.
You are 24/7 bashing 0. We are in the hunt for a top 10finish and all you can do is bash O. I've never heard one single positive out of you regarding O. You aren't objective at all. Same people every single day. I'm convinced you getting paid.

The thought of hiring Hugh Freeze baffles me. Whether he's a good coach or not, he shouldn't be touched with a ten foot pole. The man has no character, no class, and no morals. You think that he could walk into a recruits house and their parents would be ok with sending their son to play for this scumbag? The man is a disease right now. Maybe he could get his redemption in a couple years when all this blows over a little bit, but the thought of hiring him right now when all of his transgressions are fresh is asinine.
