Just did a little research out of curiosity
In 9 games this year, Nuss has called a timeout in the 1st quarter in 5 of them
Of those 5 games in which a 1st quarter timeout was called, Nuss called a timeout in the first drive in 4 of them
Over half of the games played with a first quarter TO
4 of those 5 games burning a timeout in the first drive

We had all 3 timeouts at the end of the 1Q in only the Florida, SELA, Ole Miss, and South Carolina games
We are also on a 3-game streak (Vanderbilt, A&M, Alabama) of burning a first drive timeout.
Clemson game is the other game in which a first drive TO was called. Louisiana Tech , a timeout was called during the second drive

Most have also been on 3rd and long, and I'm not sure we ended up picking up a 1st down on any of them. Let me check.....
Update:
Clemson: TO called on 2nd and 10. Result: 1 yard run.
La Tech: TO called on 3rd and 17. Result: 4 yard pass.
Vandy: TO called on 2nd and 13. Result: Incompletion.
A&M: TO called on 2nd and 10. Result: Incompletion.
Bama: TO called on 2nd and 8. Result: 1 yard run.
So only 1 on 3rd and long, the rest on 2nd and long, and not a single successful play out of any of them.
