This seems like it could be a good pickup from an offensive perspective but defensively we still have a long way to go. Thomas’ defensive numbers, according to Evan Miya, were 0.06. As a comparison, Jordan sears had a .8, and I personally was not a fan of what he brought to the table defensively. At least Thomas is a few inches taller.
I still think we need a sharp shooter and a rebounding big

So it’s all about talent until it isn’t? Then it’s all about injuries and availability which Arkansas managed to deal with pretty well.
You keep saying NIL playing field wasn’t the same but I’ve already showed you everyone who does this for a living thought we had a decent talent haul last year.

McMen always fail to acknowledge the program’s problems are not strictly NIL related.
We don’t have to look like complete fricking retards on the court every game just because the guys aren’t making 1.5 each but god forbid you explain that to them in crayon

This is where my reservations lie. I think we’ve been better on paper than results on the court. Is it bad coaching? Poor talent evaluation? Both? Other? I just can’t get too excited, BUT I try to stay hopeful.
I will admit pulling someone like Dedan Thomas…

There's much more to a program's support level than how much NIL you're spending, but of course you know that.

I can't name NBA coaches because I hate the boring arse NBA. In the 80s, NBA action was FANTASTIC!!! Not so much anymore.
I can probably name at least 30 NCAA coaches. Coaching in college and the NBA are two different animals. Players rule the NBA. Coaches (while great players are needed), impact the game immensely in college.

exactly. so why do you believe reports to the contrary? why so selective?
I don't believe either, I am saying it's possible either side is right. I am saying its possible the lack of NIL money meant the talent was a bit below SEC level. if you can rule that out, good. perhaps you watch the game with a keen eye that is pretty amazing and you deserve praise.

Don't you think a good college coach could have gotten a hell of a lot more out of Simmons and those others than Johnny did????
Any quality coach would have made the tournament and possibly won games in it with that group. Not ching chong's loverboy though.
