Absolute and complete bullshite. Team is 4-0 and #5 in the polls and most of the fans still dont care. If all you want is high profile offense then become a Texas Tech fan...

Pathetic.

If you think this is bad wait until after the 1st quarter next week. An 830 kickoff means you'll get home after 1 a.m. if you wait until halftime to leave.

The word you’re looking for is ‘mystique’. Talk to me after the UGA game. It takes a big SEC game to wake up the old grey lady.

This was a “take the kids” game. Watch the difference in atmosphere for UM, UGA, and Bama.

Gotta Head back to the tailgate so they can get that buzz back. Football game be damned, it’s all about getting drunk for these “fans.”

Puuuuleaze. I take a flask into the stadium, as well as everyone in my tailgate group. It’s not that hard.

It’s fricking frustrating how corporate things have become.

I’m only 30 but remember growing up going to the LSU games with my dad and the stadium was full and loud until he end of the game..

It's lost the magic mostly because the people there aren't just happy to watch LSU football anymore. They have certain expectations and demands. I don't think anyone can dispute that.
You can dispute whether they should be called "spoiled", but IMO, it is being spoiled. I know that I'm spoiled as a fan.
I'm finally getting back to just being happy to watch LSU play football, but it has taken a long time to get back there after being spoiled by the success from 2003-2007.

Late to this thread, but all of this shite. Put a product on the fricking field worth watching, and people would stay. These games are like watching fricking paint dry the last 10 years.

#5 team in the nation

It's not the "product"

It's sad POS like yourself

Our tickets were $25. How is that "too expensive?" Yea, the food is highway robbery but if you spend $7 on a souviner cup you get a free refill. That's $3.50/drink. You should be able to enjoy the game for $50 or less. Been doing it for years.

Death Valley ended with rent-a-wins. CEO was right, the best you can do is get them over with. Nobody cares two hours after you beat UAB,UNT,ULL,SELA,.....nothing but a fricking money grab for LSU and will haunt them in the long run as attendance declines. The cash cow of college football has maxed out and will go the way of MLB, pro-bb, and boxing. Nike and K will help NFL go the same route.

I can tell you about the Notre Dame game in 75, Ole Miss in 61, Fla in 97, but I'll be damned if I can tell you about Middle Tennessee in 2016, if we beat them, lost, or didn't even play them.

So I wanted to respond to your post by proving the Strength of schedule argument for declining attendance was a sham

in 1975, LSU hosted two non-conference games: Rice and Tulane. Non-conference games have always existed

Also, the LSU/MSU game at home ended in a forfeit. What's the story there?

ETA:

Mississippi State later forfeited all 1975 wins and one tie due to NCAA violations.

Amazed that some people expect the stadium to be full for 4 quarters for an in-state school.

This has literally never been the case. Ever. Tiger Stadium didn't get it's reputation off of games against Tech and ULM morons. Every damn year we have dumbass threads like this.

No matter how you slice this pie, the bottom line is you have so called true LSU fans (who would expect stay even if it's a blowout to cheer the younger/backups when they enter the game). Leaving the stadium with a 17 point halftime lead is not a good look for LSU football.

Too many tickets being given out as gifts by vendors to customers. The new fanbase is just a sack of spoiled counts.

Back in the day, booster were near the 50 yard line. Now they’re all eating chicken strips in the suites.

you are right....there never was traffic before...soft asses

Traffic today is different from years ago.

Cars were not towed off like they are today
The area around campus was not as developed and plenty of holes and places to park on your get away

With the designated parking areas the traffic is more congested and you are right, people are softer and more in a hurry to get somewhere.

I walk to the game from my Condo almost on campus and no need to leave early unless downpour.

Both were major conference schools, not rent-a-wins. Tulane and Georgia Tech had just exited the SEC and Rice was an SWC off and on competitor. Neither one was a directional sub regional school like UAB, Chattanooga, Troy, SeLa,....and a horde of other sub regional paydays that we have scheduled since 2000. There are a lot of power-5 schools out there to put on a 12 game schedule, but they are lapping up the cash and abusing their fan bases the same way LSU does.

We rarely scheduled the noncompetitive schools in that era...Hardin-Simmons iirc in 58, maybe one or two others over 20 years...ULoL every 10 years or so...but Cholly Mac never had a gift box of three rent-a-wins per season. The out of conference games were Wisconsin, Southern Cal, Notre Dame, Fla. State, Miami, Indiana, Ohio State,....

Do you see a difference?

Scheduling rent-a-wins demeans both schools.
