They knew what and where this facilty was and does nothing to them but threatened LSU? You can't say that isn't illogical.

The rescue facilities aren’t the problem in and of themselves. But too many of them became animal shopping operations. So accredited institutions no longer take animals from them.

No. As long as they meet the standards of care, etc.

Rescue centers =\= sanctuaries
From where do they get their tigers?

Wouldn't it be preferable for a tiger to get moved to a better facility like LSU's rather than one just meeting basic standards?

And, OP mentioned that the LSU vet was willing to get a tiger from a non-accreditted facility but that it was bureaucracy that stepped in the way. Isn't that appealable?

Probably because LSU really isn't in favor it happening but isn't going to push back and piss off the governor.

I get that. I've watched Tiger King and that crazy Chimp lady doc. How is LSU set up? Are they a single Tiger "sanctuary", they ceratinly aren't operating this as a rescue.

As far as I understand, LSU is an accredited tiger sanctuary that will only accept tigers who were bred in captivity at an accredited facility. LSU/sanctuaries will not accept rescue tigers that get pulled out of gas stations and Hollywood celebrity houses or underground breeding facilities.

Rescue facilities are a different thing.

Not according to one of the posts by the OP. The LSU vet got turned around during his trip to get a tiger by the USDA.

Because he was told the facility wasn’t accredited, yes.

Trumpsters turning on Trumpsters wasn’t something I had on my bingo card a day after the election

But he was willing to get it from an unaccredited facility.

But he "dotted his I's and crossed his T's" before hitting the road to get the tiger.

I’m assuming he didn’t know it wasn’t accredited. As someone stated above a rescue and a sanctuary aren’t the same thing.

Presumably LSU was at that time going to take a rescue tiger. Clearly that isn’t going to be the case going forward.

With how fed gov is clamping down on the transfer of endangered species, I don’t understand the skepticism of how LSU operates vis a vis Mike.

He probably did know. One checks beforehand for that sort of detail.

I think it’s a lame gimmick and pretty gay that it’s not actual Mike

But I also understand why Mike will never enter the stadium again.

He found a suitable candidate at a sanctuary and was on his way to get him when he got a call from the USDA (I think this was the agency) telling him the sanctuary donating the tiger wasn't accredited and if he took that tiger, LSU would not be allowed to get another.

This is the type of governmental overreach that killed P’nut and is gone in Trumps America

If we get black balled by sanctuaries screw em.

Get a black market tiger and save it from a potentially bad fate

pretty big difference between just spewing stuff on TV and showing up with a live fricking Tiger in the back of your pickup.

It's LSU and LSU's vet school. Not a gas station. Isn't LSU's facility as good or better than most Zoos? I've seen tigers at the Hattiesburg and Chatanooga zoos and those habitats weren't a quarter as nice as Mike's. It wasn't close.

You have to admit that would be a pretty awesome entrance.

Pull up on North stadium and walk in Larry the tiger on a leash through the student entrance
