It really seems like O didn't want to hire anyone who could replace him.

That’s what happens with affirmative action hires. Opportunistic in nature, and don’t get the most qualified.

Sweet. Now do the comparable states for offense.

We are no longer number 1 in sacks or TFL

So the idiots clamoring that talking point can shut the frick up

2 sacks in 3 sec games

We are probably #1 in most sacks missed in 3 SEC games

Na. As bad as the offense has been, 81st overall, I think Les had a few offenses in that neighborhood.

76th in 2017
69th in 2016
76th in 2014
58th in 2012
77th in 2009
75th in 2002

The defense is a bigger shock IMO because LSU almost always sits around the top 10 in total defense in great years and around the top 20 to 25 in good years and hardly ever below the 40s even in bad years

frick that. This is what happens when your head coach is an incompetent idiot. Was Pelini an affirmative action hire? Than why was his defense worse last year? GTFO with that.

Black or white, Daronte just sucks. This isn't about race.

I actually think Coach O has his hands wrapped tight around this defense. It’s the same exact shite as last year. I know Jones isn’t proven at all but to be someone completely different and trot out the same exact defense as a different coordinator last year tells me O has his hands on it still with his stubborn base 4-3 only and never adjust.

I love it when Facts get posted on the Rant!

The Defense is still terrible this year. 3rd and Chavis would be a vast improvement over this unit.

Sad hires.

It just shows that O is not a student of the game.

Stats really reflect his inexperience at calling a defense. He doesn’t manage third down well. Doesn’t get aggressive on the third and mid range at all. We assume the front four will get pressure by itself , and lay back in zone. He really should mix in some man with 1 deep or zone blitz if he wants to still wants to protect against the deep ball. Would allow for pressure from different places.

He's no Dan Lanning but I wouldn't say he's trash. LSU is not as talented as we think. So many recruits from the last 4 classes have transferred or have injuries that we can't claim to have the same talent level as elite teams. Jones hasn't been great but he hasn't been trash, either. I'd give him a C- based on what he has to work with.

Even if great names were available and willing to be hired (especially those with some HC experience or interim experience), I don't think O would have hired them because he is insecure and scared to be sabotaged by an interim kind of like he did with Les

You guys keep saying this but LSU is likely going to have a mass exodus transfer. The portal has ruined NCAA. They can just go to green pastures within their own conference without penalty like Bama and teams are already tampering with our instability on back channels.

New HC may have a full rebuild job on their hands. Depends on who they can keep and who leaves.

Anything worse than a B to B+ at LSU should be a failing grade.

We had a shite ton of attrition when Chavis and Aranda and even Kevin Steele were here and the results weren't this bad

Daronte Jones has the worst LSU defense since 1998 when Lou Tepper had the 91st (out of 112 teams at the time).
in Lou's defense, he did say he would need five years to fully install his defense.

O hired the worst possible candidates for both coordinator positions

That’s because all the quality ones chose to either not to be interviewed or if they did interview they just decided to stay in their current positions

Why are we beating this dead horse?

The team sucks and the coaches suck and they will be gone.

Is this a dead horse? Up until Saturday morning before the game there were a shite ton of pro-Daronte posts. He has managed to avoid criticism in relation to his results for the majority of the season.
