Has the Honey Badger nickname actually given life to the Tyrann Mathieu heisman campaign? Anything that helps to put you at the forefront of the voters minds has got to be beneficial. Obviously he will need to maintain his level of play, but I feel it helps him to stand out.

Yes it definitely helps but he's not winning the heisman barring some really amazing, game changing plays in basically every game left on the schedule including stripping Trent Richardson and taking it to the house to win the Bama game in the final seconds.

A couple of punt return TDs would help.

He needs to force a fumble/get a pick every week and return a couple more of those for a TD.

It's almost impossible.

Think the OP has a point. The name is so fitting to rare and exceptional play, it adds a luster.

May have been posted but just for any doubter, he digs the name.

An animal that's become famous in the last six month's because a flamboyant gay gave a funny naration in a video is fitting for exceptional play?

Mike Linebacker came up with it with a co-worker back in August.

Next, TM7's talents far exceed his nickname in the Heisman mention although a nickname gives more pub and more pub = more people talking and writing about it and him.

He, IMO, would have to pull some stellar things on OFFENSE to get a shot. But being invited to NYC as a SOPHMORE would be the greatest accomplishment, IMO. (other than winning it of course)

In this day and age of the media, no doubt it helps... but he would have to maintain a very high level of highlight plays to beat out other Offensive canidates.... Wilson at Wisconsin or the guy at Baylor, even ole James at Oregon is putting up crazy numbers(not counting the lsu game)
