Do you always answer incorrectly & then go back and edit your post 24 hrs later? Just curious

I randomly sat next to him on a flight from Baton Rouge to Atlanta after his senior year. He was very nice and down to earth. He told me he was getting some good attention from NFL teams.

I reported this story to tRant and everyone thought I made up it up because “he would never make it in the league and wasn’t an NFL QB.” Jokes on you dummies because he’s still playing professional football.

Suck my balls!

No fricking way. That Bama defense is arguably their best of all time. He looked absolutely shell shocked in 2016. That game still pisses me off. If he’s even average in that game we win.

Of those two only Matt Flynn was actually recruited by Les...

No he wasn't. Flynn was part of the 2003 class. Sorry but you are completely wrong.

I'm not saying we would have won, but he undoubtedly would have given us a better shot than Jefferson or Lee

Lee would’ve got us past the 50 yard line. He might’ve thrown a couple pick sixes but I think we could’ve got at least a TD on the board

Etling was tough as nails, and a great ambassador for LSU. I am glad we had him.

Perfect way to say it.

I have argued in the past that 2019 would not have happened if not for Danny Etling holding everything together during 2017 when things could have quickly unraveled after the blowout at Miss. St. and the loss to Troy. If the SHTF in 2017, I don't see any way that Burrow passes on joining his OC in Cincinnati in 2018.

To me, he was very similar to Joe Burrow, not quite as talented or as crazily focused nor with the outrageous weapons Joe had, but he had his grit and toughness.

Fairly underrated QB. Was a good QB in an era where we just came off 2 horrible QBs. He sorta stabilized it moving forward and even was on Patriots roster.

Underrated. Put him with any real OC and he’s up there with the others that year.

No. He was only decent because of the horizontal nature of the Canada offense.

Etling simply did not have the arm talent to push the ball down the field. He was an athletic, safe, relatively smart, quarterback.

Still, he could not handle pressure, and did not make the offense better, overall. I don't know that we won a single game because of Etling, though we certainly lost a couple (Alabama 2016, 2017).

I'd put him below Burrow but ahead of Brennan
Brennan put up half a year of Etling's stats (same amount of TD) in 3 games.

Brennan was light years better than Etling in a vertical offense. Yeah Brennan is going to struggle in the motion heavy run first under center offensive scheme.

canada did best he could with him even tho o line pass pro sucked in 2017 and 2018. i posted the stats the other day

etling threw many short passes which boosted comp% and kept INTS low.

What I'll always remember is he did a phenomenal job at the end of the Auburn game to almost give LSU the win, only for it to be negated by more shite clock management by Les, which thankfully was his last screw up for the school.

He also went 15/27 with 118 yards and lost a fumble

He made a great throw that should have won the game, but his performance that night left a ton to be desired.

That 2016 team had a legit all time defense, couple with a solid OL and an all time RB room. WR room was meh but had some solid younger guys in Chark and Gage. Dural was good before his injury. Malachi had potential. Oh, and an NFL TE.

Frustrating team. Found this video of the final drive.

- Chark dropped a ball to begin the drive

- Dural caught a pass on 1st down but failed to get out of bounds, they let a full 20 seconds run off the clock before running the next play

- they complete a 3rd and 1 pass to Durpre, 1st down, 54 seconds left, 33 seconds left before they ran the next play

- 1 TO left on both plays

For a game that came down to Etling not being able to get the snap off before the clock ran out, that was monstrous. I remember watching it almost screaming for them to snap the ball after the Dupre completion.
