With all his limitations, Etling still has given LSU the most competent QB play that we've had since Mettenberger was here (and no, I'm not saying he's as good as Mettenberger was). All these Etling haters have short memories and have apparently forgotten the absolutely atrocious QB play we had with Jennings and Harris. Harris couldn't read defenses to save his life, and Jennings wasn't much better. Those guys were basically running backs trying to play QB. I'll gladly take Etling over those guys any day of the week.

It really is ridiculous. I suppose all the Etling haters would rather have Brandon Harris back as the starter.

I do not hate him, actually I love the kid. He gets the most out of his talent. It just isn't good enough for any type of professional consideration.
Sorry you think stating a fact isn't ok. He is not good, although he may be the best we have. He won't be here next year and it is a mistake not playing the future qb in more meaningful snaps.
Bad accuracy, too quick to run, bad check down techniques, and a weaker than normal arm which causes issues on long throws (late and thrown higher to be able to reach) the 2 are related as throwing a higher ball. Makes it take longer and looks late. It has also caused several issues with player adjustments who have to wait for the pass to drop.
It's just not there for him.
He is a college qb though, so of course he'll make some nice throws a decent amount of time.

Some really really bad throws in there. The kind of throws that result in losses to Alabama. He is just not good enough. Not good enough.

There's also some fantastic throws in there. The drop by Dillon in the endzone being the best example.

Seems like they drop TD passes with monotonous regularity, but Etling has to hit that pass to Moreau. Has to. LSU has better get some good QBs or they will not get far in the SEC. Miles was completely incompetent when it came to QBs.

Was a damn solid game for a college qb. Etling takes care of the ball.
He did not have a good game against Bama, which also makes him like 90% of other college qb's.
So continue to shite on him while recruits and their parents notice how great our "fans" are.

Most of the Etling haters hated him before the season and haven't adjusted their opinions. The fact is, he is a serviceable QB in this league.
You see so much focus on the bad plays, but not much discussion on what he does well. I think every game but Bama he has thrown several passes that "would have been picked if the opponent didn't suck so bad." Meanwhile, he has thrown what, 1 meaningful INT the entire season? And yes that was against Bama.
He deserves criticism, sure, but this board likes to go straight to "he sucks", as it's much easier than actually contributing. It's not just Etling, he is just the popular victim at the moment.

We don't know that, and it could turn into an even bigger waste if Narcisse beats Brenna out next year. And in case you haven't noticed, Brennan hasn't done much of note this year with his playing time. The HC doesn't have but 2-3 years to prove himself, it would be a ridiculous proposition to "play for the future".

Is this not a place to talk about LSU sports? I'm willing to bet most you saying everyone is dogging DE were the same ones dogging BH and every other QB you didn't like. It works both ways. Just because you fell in love with your golden boy who can do no wrong doesn't mean everyone thinks of him the same way.
No one has disrespected DE or his family. It's just a fact that he's not a good enough QB to lead LSU when he is needed to make plays against good defenses. He is covered up in wins where we rush for a million yards, but is exposed for the very weaknesses many people are pointing out when he plays a defense with a pulse. Most of his completions are from wide open WR's due to playaction who usually have to wait on the ball, the same ball that we said couldn't be there to beat Bama. The other throws are prayers.
It's funny to see some of you jump on here to brag about 1 throw per game that you think should have been caught and you think it's ok to bash the WR but nobody can say a word about DE. Doesn't work like that. Good kid, just not very good QB.
