Etling can't hit the broad side of a barn when on the run.

Worse than the one Mett threw into the turf that lost the Clemson game? That was to a receiver who was even closer, and Mett had his feet set, not rolling out like Etling.
Ya, that’s not what lost us the Clemson game, bud. Jeremy Hill only getting 10 carries whilst averaging 10 yards/carry is what lost us the game.
I’m sure there’s worse, but when you overthrow a tight end by SIX FEET when they’re under five yards away from you, you’ve done a very bad thing.

As always, Etling isn't a good qb at all, but i will say that i thought he had one of his better games against R-Kansas.
The first deep ball he overthrew wasn't terrible. That was a throw that needed to be perfect to be caught, that you can't underthrow, and if you are going to miss it, overthrow it.
The overthrow of the TE and the terrible deep ball to Chark, i think in the third quarter where he throw it out of bounds and no where near Chark while in single coverage were two terribly thrown balls that both could have been td's.
But then he makes a perfect throw to Dillon that he drops for a TD. You could say they kind of balance each other out as far as mistakes go, but i'd rather if they just scored some fricking td's instead of sharing the blame on not getting it done between Elting and the WR's.
It was great to see for the first time ever, a nice quick pass to a WR where his defender is playing 10 yards off of him. I don't understand why we don't do this all day. I don't care what the play call is, if you get to the line and a DB is playing 10+ yards off the WR, just say hike and throw it to him. Minimum gain of 5 yards, and if he breaks a tackle, no telling. make the defense play defense.

He's not atrocious. Atrocious is what we had when Jennings and Harris were starters.
No offense, but the WRs and defenses we've played this year are the only reason why you think that. Etling should have many, many more ints this year, but it seems by pure luck, no DB can catch his errant throws.

I don't get it. No mention of Dillon's TD drop and Sullivan's at the end? I understand that there were some bad throws, but without the drops he's 13/16 267 yards 3TDs and 0 INTs.
No doubt Etling isn't elite, but some of the negativity is ridiculous.
agreed. Etling actually played very well. I don't get the hate on him. He's not spectacular, but he's more than adequate. Yea, he misses a throw or two every game, but most college QBs do that.
He's an above average QB and is tough as nails.
